Cutting with blades, splicing, airbrushing. Often complicated, highly skilled work done by hand. That's how they made graphics before computers. My father worked in photography doing that for 10 years before computers made those methods obsolete. He worked for a company that did all kinds of jobs. From regular advertising to special requests.
