I don't know, but they attract turbo autists. A good friend of mine is really into them. We used to meme each other and have fairly deep conversations, and we still do occasionally, but most of our convos devolve into him going on and on about some smash shit nobody cares about.
This begs the question, why are activities such as chess and fencing so popular with european gentlemen?

I've literally never seen anyone who wasn't white playing smash bros. Melee is about as pure, perfect, and white/asian of a video game as you can get.
