So what you are telling me is that you can order it in, I have to wait, then I have to drive here again, find another bumbling retard, try to explain to them that I specially ordered something in, wait for the bumbling retard to find it and ring it up, then drive home.

We had a pretty cool abandoned mall in Austin, TX for a good while.

What was weird about it is that they still had like one pretzel shop opened in the whole place, so you could still walk in and shit. Looked like something out of Silent Hill.

They converted it into a Community College though. Kind of smart used of space to be honest.

I'm just wondering if we'll ever see these malls being converted into livable spaces, like turning each store front into a condo or something.

Target is a little pricier than Walmart, but not by much. Its whole gimmick is to sell stuff that looks more premium to people who hate Walmart for whatever reason.

I'm still surprised at how they fucked up in Canada. Then again, that was around the same time the credit card theft happened, so I guess things weren't going so well for them behind the scenes.
>>
So what are you going to do with a giant dead mall, anon?
>>
>>69931090
Yeah I sure do like spending the gas to drive to a mall so I can overpay for shit while I have to walk around amongst teenage hoodlums, spics and white trash.

Much like Wal-Mart I only go to the mall when there is absolutely no other option, and that's almost never.

That same shop closed down like a year later.

Funny this thread should pop up.
Anyone been to a Kmart lately?
Went to one the other day out of curiosity. Literally nobody was in the store except the people working there. There was a couple employees standing around fidgeting with some stuff on the shelves. Literally one cashier for the whole store. The PA was playing some weird techno shit. Felt really surreal and weird.
10/10 would recommend if you still have a Kmart in your area.

I bought a fairly expensive vacuum cleaner 8 years or so ago. At a store. Said vacuum requires bags (yeah yeah, I know). Said store stopped carrying the required vacuum bags when the new model came out. Store can order them for $20 and I come pick them up. Or I can order them for $8 and have them delivered directly to my residence. That is essentially why the internet is winning.

Yup. I bought a small cordless vac from a local big box store. Of course they don't carry any consumables for them - only standard Hoover bags. So immediately I had to place an order for replacement filters from Amazon before it's discontinued.

I said "fuck that" and got a Prime membership for $73. It's already paid for itself in shipping. A new CostCo is opening down the road this summer. After that I'm done. If I can't find it at CostCo it's Amazon.

There was a K-mart just down the street for a couple years when I first moved here. The parking lot was always full, but nobody was ever inside barring the employees. Turns out the parking lot was where tons of people parked to get to the nearby town center filled with restaurants, clothing stores, and a large park. They ended up closing down the store, bulldozing the building, made the parking lot bigger, and expanded the town center.

It was definitely eerie being in that K-mart when I first got here. While I was inside there was only one other customer, some super mexican looking guy with a sombrero and everything. They had one cashier like you mentioned. Just standing at the front reading magazines in between helping the one customer a day she would normally get. There were a few other employees in the electronics section who had taken a TV down and hooked up a PS4 to it and were just playing Dark Souls while I browsed. The only other employee I saw in there was some tiny chick stocking the toys section.

I remember when the store was closing they had a big sale on everything. Like 60% off and more. Still only a handful of people showed up. Most of the merchandise had to be dumped.

This whole abandoned America is disturbing to me in a different way.

The fact that we get nostalgic over convenience stores, commercial products and television shows bothers me. It means fat faggots in board meetings decided on what our culture would be. Now we have all these people getting depressed over empty department stores and run down theme parks.

For what? They were corporate and commercial enterprises, you were being sold a product and the commercials taught you that product defined who you are.

This whole situation is bullshit.

Remember how the niggers fucked up City Center? It was what - 2 years - after opening that the first gang shooting happened?

Remember Northland? How long before Polaris is fucking full of niggers?

You just can't have nice malls around niggers. Columbus, like Indianapolis, is a case study in the life cycle of a mall. Build a nice mall at the edge of town. Developers build a ton of cheap apartments around mall. Niggers invade mall. Whites avoid mall. Shootings. Gangs. Stores leave. Because a lazer arcade / nightclub. Torn down.

Yah, it's the new aesthetic. I guess it's supposed to have a "walking 'round the town" feel/nostalgia, (reminiscent of "mom and pop" stores and a time before there were malls) but frankly the sidewalks are too thin and the rodes are too relatively wide. Feels like I'm being squished up against a storefront.

The thing is the lack of air conditioner really does thwart the nigs and It's genuinely fun to walk around in. Feels like a theme park.

>>69935715

There's two reasons for this:

1. Pedo/kidnap scare (Parents generally worried about their children)
Nowadays parents don't let their (little) kids go outside without supervision, which leads to "Mommy doesn't want to go outside right now, do something inside," which leads to conditioning against going outside.

2. Vidya/abundancy of inside activities that require less effort

This happened to me. One day my neighbor got a console. We thought it was cool, but he didn't come outside as often, leading to us not coming outside as often because we had less opportunities with less people. Since we had less to do outside, another kid got a console, making there even less to do outside because the lack of people. The vicious cycle continued till in my High school years no one was outside. Then we all moved off to college and never saw eachother again.

They did a pretty good job until recently, desu. I have no problem with it.

They never had anything I wanted to buy, and I could get vidya cheaper at Target or Walmart. I also have no idea how GameStop or Babages is still around.

I have one nearby. It is SO old looking. Also, I was shocked and pretty amused at the inventory. It was seriously like perhaps it is a collection of things you would never want to buy. Literally, the worst of everything in every category.

So given that Simon owns about 80% of all the malls in the US, how in the hell do they stay solvent?

Are they just a honey pot for REIT money?

>Simon
I know, right?
>>

>Babages is still around.

no way
i remember this place from the 80's early 90's
>>
>>69937909

Yeah that might work for others, that shitty kettle just reminded me why I hate walmart.

I hope planned obsolescence ends some day. I've lived in China off and on for a few years, the Chinese all want to buy stuff made in the USA or Germany. There's a market there that hasn't been tapped, where the belief that American made products are built to last still holds.

Fuck Radio Shack. Worked there for a year once and it was completely soul crushing. New manager every two months due to burn out and upper management demanding we sell two new phones a day. Uh retards, nobody wants to buy phones at Radio Shack.

i remember pocketing loose Lego pieces in the toy dept. I never actually opened anything, just took choice pieces that were strewn around by others
>>
Babbages was bought out by Gamestop a long time ago, in most places they're too lazy to change the signs. Places like Gamestop stay in business by ripping the fuck out of people by harassing them with preorders and giving kids literally pennies for their old games then turn around to sell them for around $20 more

Several years back I stopped in the local mall (after having not been there for years) to check if Radio Shack had a battery for my cell phone.

Noticed the parking was pretty empty but when I walked in, I thought the mall was closed down and they had mistakenly left the door unlocked.

There was _nobody_ in sight anywhere as far as I could see down the length of the mall until I got about halfway down, then I saw the Radio Shack was gone, so I turned around and went home.

Weird feeling being a huge interior space like there with no people around, I was waiting for zombies to shamble out and attack me….

I don't know. I also don't know how movie theaters stay around. They're all fucking terrible and filled with niggers and spics. I really don't get how hollywood bigscreen movies gross a billion dollars domestically.

And then it turned to shit so quickly.

Sometimes there's a flea market set up in the old one here. It's sort of a nice way to kill time and check out all the bootleg shit they have for sale.

>5 fucking bakeries along one street

The street isn't even particularly long. It's around 500-600m and there's 5 different bakeries.
>>
Las Vegas has GOAT malls.
>>
we have a mall in my city with a bunch of richfag stores

ie. Gucci, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Rolex, Tag Huer, Hugo Boss, LV, MK, versace

thing is it's mostly postly poorfags just hanging around.
>>
>>69938261

Are you old enough to remember when they carried a shitton of discrete electronics?

Remember all the integrated circuits on the blue cards with stock numbers starting with 276 - ? For a while they were expanding their IC selection every month. It was really cool to see all the new TTL-LS and CMOS chips come in.
>>
>>69931601
They're releasing new commercials and shit. How are they still alive.
>>
>>69938284
At least Aldi sells pretty good groceries for a good price
>>
>>69934449
This is the mall they go to on Beavis and Butthead
>>
>>69938375
Because they force us to go to them or else our movie gets spoiled and we have to wait a month.

I really wish movie producers would pull an ultimate jew on theaters and release all their movies for pay per view on release day.

It's coming. NFLX and AMZN are negotiating hard to make it happen. All the investment shows are talking about it as coming next.

I'd happily pay $25 to watch in the comfort of my home with a pause button and my own popcorn maker, without niggers talking out loud and potentially opening fire on us all.

That doesn't change the fact that I spent a lot of time there and have good memories of buying cool shit you fedora

right there with you on that one.

went in there 2 years ago to try and find a pair of infrared LEDs, had to order them in, $23. no breadboards, only 18 gauges single strand wire and not a transistor to be seen.
>>
>>69938485
We only had a few shitty electronics kits when I worked there. The store was mostly stocked with shitty TVs and overpriced Monster cables. I kept trying to tell them to update it but they never did and the store closed.
>>
>>69927147
Walmart killed all those stores not the internet
>>
>>69938854

That's the programming fighting back.

the ones on the strip are for show, a way for each casino to seem "classier" and appeal to status/label obesessed foreigners and niggers. those versace and cartier stores in the casinos very rarely sell things, if ever.

FUCK.
OFF.

I was exited for a second or two when I saw this picture because I fucking walk down that street every fucking day, fuck.

I think I found why it's so dead.

>The racial makeup of the city was 24.9% White, 65.0% African American, 0.2% Native American, 2.2% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 3.9% from other races, and 3.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.4% of the population.

Are you dumb? There's no way those bakeries can effectively work and sell enough stuff. We have Mindestlohn now, so that won't ever happen again.
