There was a referendum (after the german troops arrived) both in germany and austria about the unification of them.
Turnout:
99.73% of austrians voted yes
The only complain about the referendum that can be made is that the "yes" circle was bigger than the "no" circle (as if that would change opinions).
Also there was no "invasion" since not a single shot has been fired during this happening and austrian troops opened the borders to them, even marched with them.
Most austrians and austrian politicians supported the "annexation"(actually unification) and welcomed the germans with open arms.
