How can something be offensive?
Either it's
a) true - in which case you can't be offended by facts
or
b) a lie or unproven opinion - in which case you should try to rebut it or disprove it
Being offended means you have no response so you resort to telling people your feelings. This is likely due to low testosterone or two x chromosomes.
I need a non-autist to explain this.

Anger is more of an emotion that is meant to create drive for corrective action.
Being offended is a form of anger. Ergo, if you think someone is completely off about something you hold as a personal belief and you are determined enough to want to correct them, you will get offended.
It's childish to think that you cannot get offended. We all have our buttons. Just because you don't know where your buttons are, doesn't mean that there is nobody that can push them in a way to make you offended.
If you hold deep personal beliefs about politics, that is the issue. That prevents you to see reason, and gets you offended when somebody says something against your values.
I really don't see what's so hard to understand about this. It's more to do with having an tendency to do actions based on an emotional response. People who do actions based on their emotions get offended.

>true - in which case you can't be offended by facts
yeah, except the opposite. only facts are offensive, as untruths can be brushed off easily.

Even this is offensive by today's standards.
It has always been delusional to think you can please everybody.
Just don't tell nigger jokes to black people, jeez.
Being offended really doesn't mean anything
Don't be afraid to offend people and that stand your ground. You only get yourself into trouble when you don't stand your ground and back off and apologize like a pussy.

Offensiveness is in the eye of the beholder. Very few things are offensive to everyone. So those things are not objectively offensive. They are just perceived that way by some subset of the audience. The way to think about it is that if someone is offended by something you say, they were not your intended audience. You were speaking to people who would not be offended by what you said. It is not your fault if some people think that every message is directed at them. Just explain to them that you were not talking to them.

This is true. You can make an almost tautological statement and people will still say that you are wrong and get offended.
People who are insecure about something often misinterpret what was said.
