The way I see it it's a great idea for 3 reasons.
Firstly, the libs are right, it's the ultimate test of the "good guys with guns" theory. Not just to have bullets flying in the other direction, but to intimidate any potential shooters that know they're going to be shot for it.
Secondly, the intimidation factor isn't something to laugh off. US Presidents used to literally duel with firearms, and the point of 2A is to make the government scared of the people.
