The reasons why Lithuania expanded that much are not that surprising though. When Kiev Rus fell it left many small duchies, so through military force, or dynastic marriages Lithuanian dukes managed to unite good chunk of them.

True. But word "ours" is problematic (hate that word) here. It's matter of identity here, and I severely doubt that medieval Russians had same one as modern Russians. Also existence of Belarus and Ukraine cast doubts. I guess Commonwealth cucked you out of pan Russian, pan slavic state, just by turning former Kievan Rus trough a bit different history.
