You have NO IDEA what it was like.

The U.S.A. was nirvana before 9/11. We stopped caring about social issues (from the left and the right) because everyone was making lots of money.

Even in the 2000's before the Great Recession, you could open up a business ANYWHERE doing ANYTHING and people would pay you tons of money.

I opened a business inside of another business with a single poster board in the window and we had so much work I had to hire two employees within 3-4 months. We renovated 4 times to add capacity to our little room within 1.5 years. It was incredible. People didn't care what they were spending money on.

That's what bern victims will never know, is that when the USA is firing on all cylinders you don't need free anything because any idiot can make plenty of money. Guys were running tools around construction job sites and were making 60,000 a year. A friend of mine after high school worked for a security company making 100,000 year, reimbursed for three meals and all his clothes, lodging, travel, company provided vehicle. He tested security pads that people put their security codes in. He ate at Red Lobster and similar restaurants EVERY NIGHT OF THE WEEK.

90s were awesome. People were hatin on ill Bill C for no reason.

Smartphones and social media are really what's killing society though.

The 90s were god tier and an economic boom. All my aunts/uncles and my parents made enough to buy houses during the 90s.

87.

It was fun while it lasted. I remember staying up all night playing Ocarina of Time on a tiny television in my bedroom. After school a few of my friends and I would walk over to the library to get on the Internet to look up cheat codes on how to bring Aeris back to life. We'd stop off at the gas station and buy a Jasta, look at the MAD Magazine and then on the way home talk about last night's South Park and who was the greatest Dragonball Z character ever.

And all our parents had disposable income. No one was ostensibly poor, just less well off. We didn't put as much value in clothes and shoes. No one had a cell phone.

Also 95, le ebin millenial who barely remembers the 20th century. Life now is suffering and we can never return to the past, as much as I want to believe me. I am a pastoralist romantic till death.

There is something magical about the future. We have unprecedented technology. We are beyond the physical world. We live in abstract networks, in clouds, in a digital dimension.

I've stopped taking society and politics to heart. Race is a meme. Freedom is a meme. Equality is a meme. Etc.
The natural order subsists, and I recognize it, but it seems most of humanity has not. We will drive the Earth to a point of self-consumption.

In the future I hope to upload my consciousness and live on the Internet.

'89 here.
Anyone past '92 or '93 is completely hopeless. I have no advice for you.
>>
>>69076322

I was in Junior High. It was early in the morning, 2nd or 3rd period. I walked into Social Studies and the lights were all shut off. They had pulled the television up front of the class, and everyone was quietly watching. Our teacher, I forget her name, was crying at her desk. She was Lebanese, her family were all Christians who had moved to America in the 70s and 80s. She was crying into her hands and kept saying, "They'll never stop, they'll never stop."

I never really thought about the rest of the world. I just thought it was like this everywhere. Everyone was happy, everyone got along. War was something that happened in the past when a rare evil person took control of a foreign nation and we had to save the world.

I thought everyone loved us for being the hero. They looked at us like Superman, serving humanity faithfully. Making sure the world is fair and everyone gets a piece.

That's the exact moment that I learned I was wrong. Some love us, true. But a lot envy us, despise us, hate us, or fear us.

>>
>>69074425
>95 here.

It's possible that our country will be financially and mentally better in the next few decades. We're just going through a lot of shit. One reason is that older people don't know how technology works, which makes it harder for financial shit to be done. Soon, more people will know how to use computers and get things done faster and financial stuff will become more organized. Also, more college kids are working jobs and are learning to deal with nonstop labor and how to manage time so there will be more devoted and experienced people in the future as well. Tbh, the baby boomers are one of the reasons why we have to deal with this shit because they're spoiled fucking brats.

Sure why not?

The material world is inherently superficial.
Even so called "progressive" movements and thought is just as if not more discriminatory based on pre-set characteristics like class at birth, skin colour, and sex. Simultaneously it attempts to redefine language (the foundation of our communication, but perhaps not for long if we all start speaking code :^) and create open-ended concepts of identity that present to challenge nature and biology.
It is deconstruction at its core, with no reconstruction.

Unfortunately traditionalism mostly attempts to take things out of context and apply them to present days and present times. This is foolish.
The reaction mirrors what it reacts to. In behaviour, in zealotry, in delusion.

Balance is key. 01. Something that keeps society moving on this divine trajectory, without losing sight of what got us here.

98 here, seen the crumbling of America first hand. It was at least decent when I was little, but it's been totally fucked. Shitty father dumped me as a kid and I've lived in poverty and homelessness and been dragged all over the country.

Fortunate enough to have worked my ass off in high school and get a full scholarship to a top tier private university. Heading there this autumn, get to vote for Emperor Trump and hopefully MAGA. If not I'll just head to some other country.

Nigga, younger people don't know how technology works. They know how to MAKE IT work, but they don't know HOW it works. Thanks to Apple and its IT JUST WURKS philosophy dominating modern tech, nothing requires any thought. 80s-early-90s kids had to learn how to use a goddamn computer. Now dipshits just stare at their phones and let everything be done for them. Same shit with video games. No one has to think about a goddamn thing anymore.

You remember the major things that happened in the late 90s but you don't seem to grasp how carefree everything was since you was so young.

People used to go camping, fishing, and played sports like football and basketball. Popular culture was far from politically correct and the Internet was some new, amazing thing that seemed infinitely large and untamed even though one half of it was Mr. T ate my balls and the other half was Burt is Evil. However, as cool as the Internet and PC boom was, we didn't spend much of our free time on it since family was more important. The 90s was great since it was the last decade that people actually socialized in person instead of doing it electronically.

I'm 20 and imo our generation is going to be right wing as fuck. Bathed in the fires of Trump, Farage, Orban and Putin. Society is cyclical, not an endless line of progess as Whig and Marxist history state.
>>
>>69078018
Well, it's hard to define what above average is.

My top choice was literally the best possible school you could go to for my field, and they only take about two-dozen kids for the major I wanted. There was another school that's arguably top-ten in the field that I got into, but it's turning out that it would be completely awful to pay for because they offered me almost nothing. I got into the best school in my state and can go for free, but I feel like it would be hard to make the same connections at if I attended.

A lot of it just comes down to shit that's out of my grasp, and it annoys me. But I'm being a faggot with all this /r9k/-tier rambling.

I don't have a purpose. I feel like a lot of people in my generation ('96) are the same, but they never have had a moment of introspection, or if they did, it was a "wow, life is like, really hard" 21pilots bullshit lyrics type of introspection.
People feel like it's okay to be failures because the world can revolve around them. Even before smartphones, the internet is a way to get on demand tailored entertainment whenever you want. Smartphones have given your average American a device that allows them to only have to pay attention to exactly what they want, feel exactly how they want to feel, etc. It's kind of horrifying. I don't have to talk to a classmate in the bit of time before the professor walks in, I can see if the Swedes have been emasculated again on /pol/. Jenny across the room doesn't have to pay attention to any of these subpar men around her, 100s of people are liking her spring break photos on Instagram. James can ignore the calculus professor, fail the test, bitch about it on social media, and feel in the right. I don't know what the point of what I'm typing is. I feel personalized tech is making the world smaller in an unintended way. Everyone has a gilded cell of their own creation. It's unavoidable. Medical technology and video games are nice, but sometimes I wish I was born somewhere else. I would have liked to be an outdoorsman or a chef. Fucking instant gratification.

Honestly western life has been cucked since WWII, with only brief respite in the 50s and then the 80s.

The 2000s were better in many ways from the 90s. A least you have the internet and anonymity and communities when you would otherwise be isolated in your alt opinions in most parts of the past without joining some secret club.

The worst part about it, I'm coming to understand, is our own peers. I was raised in an evangelical Christian household, and religion aside, the biggest thing I got out of that was the sociability. I was essentially forbidden from being a NEET sperg because there was always some potluck to go to, or some event we had to host because my father was the minister. So I never got to just "stay home." As such, I learned how to actually interact, face-to-face with people.

So now, I'm perfectly capable of carrying on long conversations...with people 20-30 years older than me. So much so that I'm basically the face of the local business I work for now because I'm "such a nice young man with such a bright smile." If I try to be chatty with most--not all, but most--of my peers, the most I get is an "uh-huh" or a short answer before they go back to their phones or whatever else they're doing that's MUCH more important than interacting with a fellow human being.

Fuck it /pol/, I didn't want to feel tonight. I'm old. I'm tired. I've got a kid to raise in this shithole reality we created. I don't know how to do it most days.

Can attest my generation is full of cognitive dissonance and a bad case of entitlement and were so full of ourselves.

Personally though, i blame all this shitty fucking boomer parenting. If you wouldve actually not spoiled your kids and beat them from time to time we might be better as a society but no...

I also blame modern pop and hip hop for decadence in our society.

Intelligence and learning is shunned while getting fucked up and trying to be a retarded nigger because its the in thing.

Social cancer.

Arcades were closed down by the 90s except shit like Chuck E Cheese or other kid bait places like a wharf. These places are still around in the right places with some new hipster bait retro ones as well.

90s was plenty internet and computer savvy. It was more primitive but message boards were popular and like the wild west with little to no regulation or moderation.

Game consoles had been around for EVER by that time. Gaming was popular in the 80s and even more so in the 90s. PC games started taking off as well. Kids played outside about as much as today. The biggest difference between the 90s and now as far as child experience is social media and smart phones glued to your fucking face.

92 here. I've come to find that my year was more or less the tipping point of degenerate retardation in the youth. I have no interest in most people my age because they are just intensely boring people. Their hobbies consist of Facebook, Netflix, and getting fucked. I want to raise a family, but at 24, I've realized I missed out on teen romance because of aforementioned lack of interest, people have gotten no better or more mature in the time since, and before too long, the women my age will be hideous, wrinkled husks from their horrible lifestyles. So my options have become limited to finding some fucking needle-in-the-haystack younger girl or dying alone. Fucking joy.

We still had plenty of them in Indiana until around 1999 - 2000. I agree with the rest of your post except for your claim that kids play outside today as much as they did during the 90s. That's bullshit. Here in Indiana, every fucking person played basketball and thought they would star in the next "Hoosiers" movie growing up (including myself).

I am guilty of this but mostly because I don't have much to say to other people. And that is a side affect of the internet.
You can do most things via the internet even socializing although it is not as filling as the real thing.

Be above your generation, it will help you whenever you look to advance yourself with older people. Learn about the perspectives of their generation rather than just your own, try to understand what they as older individuals must have felt as they went through events in their lives. That will allow you to relate to them directly and allow you to grow as an individual beyond your generational viewpoints. If you already feel alienated from your generation, this is only sensible, but you should surely attempt to understand the influences of your own and following ones as well, because while it is indeed mundane bullshit, it will allow you to navigate their state of mind.
America will only be brought back to her former glory should the peoples which inhabit her look to do so. This means nationalism and fighting against those who seek only greatness for foreign places and foreign ideals. This as well means combatting illegal immigration and the incursion of hispanic influences, they need to be assimilated to cherish and follow American oriented values, and should they not be, they are indeed enemies of the state whether they realize it or not.
It can be a painful route to understand what must be done and realize that the majority are indeed delusional and manipulated to be counter against it, but you must strive forward and fight for what is right.
Complacency allows the enemy to succeed. Don't degrade yourself into being a contrarian idiot as too many here tend to do. You must find the proper path, learn how to uphold it, and live it as best you can. You are young and will find yourself looking to be combative, but you must use your combative spirit to fight your very nature and learn to understand as best you can what truth and rightiousness means. This means coming to know yourself, your family, your nation and country (as they are one in the same), and the world itself. You must drive yourself to be an exceptional individual in all regards.

I hate my life, but this hits home. I made friends with all the old folks in my suburb. Out of all the kids who walked by this one old dude named Earl to the bus stop over four years, I was the only one who would talk to him. 20 or so kids came and went daily and I was the only one who said more than a few words to this guy. He was a Vietnam vet. He showed me a picture in a book published by LIFE or TIME that has him waving from the ground as a helicopter with a reporter flies off. He had (has) hopes for his grandkid, who was great at soccer but wanted to be a lawyer. He met his wife in Spain.
I'm the only one who knows any of that, out of all the people my age from my neighborhood. Because I'd stay for more than a minute talking on the way back from school.
I want to connect with people in college. I'm human. I'm lonely. I thought it would be different in high school. I'll try to carry on with somebody about the class we're in or about some common circumstance but I'll get nothing. My chem lab TA - who would make most of pol have an aneurysm - legitimately will shut kids asking her questions down because she's busy on social media. I looked her up - it's not like she's even cultivating a positive image. I don't fucking get it. I don't get it. I wish I got people.

>why can't my ostensibly "normal" peers?
Because retarded is the new normal. Everything centers around them; anything that inconveniences them triggers Pepe levels of screeching. No one gives a fuck about anything greater. The whole social networking website has wrought the exact opposite of what it intended. People are ostensibly "more well-connected," but they've become disgusting narcissists hungry for recognition. Think about it like this: your average person in real life is just as bad as the worst 4chan shitposters who go hunting for (You)s.

Lie. That's how I got my first job.

Pirate resume software, like Winway, which will format it for you and give you general wording advice.

For work experience put ONE job position. Be clever and use common sense. If you're applying to a retail job, then put line cook as your experience. The point is just to show you're willing to learn and will show up.

For the jobs address and contact information: I recommend choosing a place that went out of business. As for contact information, list the """ manager""" number as a cell, and make it one of your parents or even a friend. Let them know. If they get called they'll give you a glowing recommendation.

This is exactly what I did to get my first job. I basically got it by lying and putting my mom's cell number as the manager, thanks mom!

Once you get your first job you won't have to lie anymore. And I do strongly recommend the resume, even if where you're applying is application based. Resume helps you stay on top of your lies.

Also: consider beaner work. I got a gardening job real easy before. I don't even remember filling out an app for it. Guy who owned it told me it was gruesome work (it was p. Hard being white under the sun), but if I called by 5pm that day saying I want the job I'd be hired (I was).

Good luck bro.

92 fag here. Yesterday I hung out with my second cousin 10 yo. I feel bad for kids born nowadays. So I decided to show him what childhood should be like. We went to the park and threw a frisbee, skiped rocks on a lake, rode bikes, climbed on rocks, I made him a slingshot and we tried to shot birds, gave him trust and minimal supervision, we climbed high up on jagged rocks that would make most helicopter parents faint. you should have seen him, it was the best day of his life. I can tell you this anons, there is hope for the next generation. And that hope is us. The ones who have seen first hand the slow transition of this country into what it is today and know if only barely( in my case) what this country was.
>>
>>69080234
>If I can get this--why can't my ostensibly "normal" peers?
I don't know, man. I think it has something to do with the fact that we can craft an iron-clad routine for ourselves. Nothing alien will ever, ever enter your sphere of influence if you don't want it to. Some old dude talking to you on your way back to your house? You can ignore him, just give some curt (but not rude) responses and you can go on your merry way. You don't have to see what you don't want, and that includes the man who'll be dead in a couple years standing in front of you, trying to ask you how your day was.

Ignoring that man is seen as normal. I got laughed at for sitting down and talking to my older neighbor and his wife.

Born in '88. Things started cascading downward in a serious way in the mid-2000s -- this coincided with the rise of social media. There was a brief renaissance in the 1990s with respect to race, intelligence, and other previously taboo subjects, but I wasn't old enough to participate in any of that.

We had landlines, made prank calls using telephone directories, played outside, set aside time for LAN parties, dialed-up, and experienced lives not completely dominated by digital or electronic interfaces. I remember building my first computer and gaining access to the internet.

its kinda hard to explain anon but history felt like it was speeding up as the millennium crept up
even as a teenager growing up in the 90s the biggest happenings I can remember off the top of my head

OJ
Waco
Oklahoma City Bombing
Princess Diana
JFK Jr
Kurt Cobain heroing
Tupac
Lots of TV show finales (friends, seinfeld, cheers)
Clinton Impeachment
Internet/computers becoming cheap
Columbine

nowadays, everything is taken for granted, tv shows are a dime a dozen, muslims blow shit up every day, the human race is partly a shadow of what it used to be, males are pathetic slaves instead of innovators

the only things that haven't changed is women are still sluts and videogames are still expensive
>>
83 fag here, I was 18 when 9/11 happened. The 90s were amazing, Great music, no sjw faggotry, you could smoke in denny's, and if you had 2 parents working in your household, you were rich as fuck. My mom and dad were both truckers (mom local, dad OTR) and we always had new vehicles, steaks on Saturday, huge Christmas's and amazing vacations. Now you need to make 100k a year to live like that in az.

Imagine how much more money you had with a 25$ a month cable bill, no internet bill and no cell phone bills.

Fellow 89er who feels your pain.
Just a friendly reminder that we are both millenials as well, fwiw.

I really feel like our generation should be split at the point where people started to grow up with smart phones. People born in 85-90 have way more in common with gen X than people born between 95 and 00, who had smart phones from age 10 and up. Those years in between are a hodgepodge depending on economic circumstances and where they're from.

At least anime is easier to watch now and any music is downloadable now, you're no longer restricted to the playlist the record label releases and van create mixes and videos with any song you like.

Man, I got to see some good times when I was a teenager. Everyone smoked cigarettes, at my local mall people would be standing outside in lines all smoking cigarettes, and inside was a bad ass arcade with tons of games. It was a place for teenagers to hang out.

I drove by it recently and it's not even a mall anymore. It's a series of outdoor shops all by each other. Sad how mall culture died.

I remember Myspace when it was popular. Everyone had a motherfucking Myspace. I got laid off of Myspace from meeting a random emo girl lol. That was some good pussy. She's married now, I saw her name in the newspaper announcing her marriage.

And "The Happening" has been a big one in so many ways among so many different groups. I never liked that picture, to be honest. I think the people gravitated to this place are the ones who don't connect with their peers. It could be for any number of reasons. Some of us could be here because something happening growing up made us disconnected from our peers. What the fuck is somebody who watched a little kid slip, hit their head, and die - which isn't even the world's biggest deal! - at a pool going to have in common with a girl posting Amy Schumer skits on facebook? If somebody's friends are killed as a byproduct of a drive buy shooting, are they ever going to relate to the gated community lad or lass posting about BLM? I watched my mom almost die and make a miraculous recovery from cancer. I couldn't reach out to anybody in my grade. Nobody thought about mortality or the potential death of a loved one.

The worst part about it is that there was somebody else out there who was like me, which kind of rendered all of this wall of text void. But both of us were trained to keep our head down, because trying to talk to somebody about "I'm worried my mom's gonna die, I'm worried the world's going to shit, I don't feel a connection with any of this" wouldn't fucking fly.

And this is the only place where I've found anybody who I can sympathize with, and people are unironically posting 14/88 here. It's almost too much to bear at times.

Really just normal places like fast food and retail, dollar general, etc. They'll all say they're hiring but I'm a screw up I guess. I say I'm available for 20 hours per week. Monday-thursday availability is 5pm-closing time. Friday-Sunday is Opening time-Closing time. I have a resume but it's a worthless one that I don't use sometimes because I literally have nothing to put on it. No achievements, experience, references. I've only called afterwords one time... Does that really work? When I called, I was told that the hiring authority wasn't there right then and that they'll take care of it. Then nothing. I've never directly spoken to a hiring authority.

87 here.

I remember growing up as a kid in the 90s. My early childhood was pretty great. The cartoons, the bike rides, the Nick/Disney shows, playing laser tag. Winters were full of sledding and snowball fights. Summers were full of good times at lake Michigan and hanging out with friends outdoors.

I turned 13 in 2000 and things were still okay for a while. I do remember a much larger shift in society after 9/11. Around 2005 I really started to notice things shifting in a much more self-absorbed, narcissistic way that would eventually lead to what our society is now. It really dawned on me what track we were on after Myspace really took off and I noticed more SJW shit being pushed in the college I was attending.

I notice a lot of people in my age group (late 20s - early 30s) have a very high tendency to want to live in nostalgia. You see a lot of people in my age group who end up getting old SNES and Genesis games, as well as old comics, cartoons, etc.

MySpace was awesome if you played in a band. You could develop a following very quickly. In fact, MySpace was the end of bands hosting their own websites.

Then it got ruined I think because people abused CSS/HTML on their profiles.

Bandcamp right now is really just classic MySpace with a pure emphasis on bands.

We must vote for a man who will destroy the liberal establishment in America. A man who who will go against the grain of opinions formed on feelings and instead base his policies of of fact. A man who can at the very least open people's eyes to the authoritarian regime the left is trying to force upon us.

That man is Donald Trump.

84 here. I think anyone who had the pre-9/11 high school experience is the real end of the whatever-the-fuck-we-are generation. I think Gen-X should be a full 20 years, because I don't understand how people who were full-adults before the social media revolution, and came of age during the End of History before 9/11 started history up again, can be in the same grouping as what are commonly referred to as Millennials.

There are some university demographer sources on Wikipedia that apply the full 20 year cycle and end X at 1985. There are even some kids younger than me who I don't think can really fit into the Millennial group, but whatever. I think the 85 date is reasonable considering Boomers are a full 20 years too.

>I've only called afterwords one time ... Does that really work?

Yes anon. Yes it does. You have to be on their ass on this shit, the non-managers picking up the phones are, if it's anything like my store, having to deal with 4-5 separate issues going on all at once and your call is at the absolute bottom of the totem pole of priorities. Not only do you want to talk to the hiring manager you want to go out of your way to speak to that hiring manager face to face. If you can't impress them with your resume then impress them one on one, express how much you would love to work there if given the opportunity etc etc etc. Make sure that they're still hiring, leave your contact information with them, and (assuming you haven't heard anything for a couple weeks) repeat the process again. Do it for as long as it takes.

Don't sit here and tell me that you've put in your 100% in trying to get a job by filling out a few online applications and making a single call. Work at it dammit. Entry level positions (especially fast food given their turnover rate) don't give a fuck about your previous work experience - they're entry level positions.

Fuck yeah, bro. Arcades were the shit.

I remember people used to crowd around the game 'Silent Scope' and watch other people play. That's how many people were in the arcade; enough to have an audience.

I remember there was a game that shocked you. Like... that was the entire game. You held onto two handles and it shocked you. I remember playing it as a teenager and thinking that I looked so bad ass in front of everyone LOL.

I need to look up that game for a laugh and see what it was called. It was a game all about shocking the player.

Looky here, we have a winner. Anti-intellectualism is a fucking poison. As long as being smart = being an outcast, no one is going to give a fucking damn about school except the autists who were never going to be popular in the first place, because school is the ONLY way they can have any success.

As an interesting and completely unrelated note, anti-intellectualism runs deepest in the black subculture, which has pervaded the wider culture through hip-hop and various shades of niggerdry.

We also have a nice supply of cheesy 90's teen movies and TV shows as time capsules. Sure, they're not exactly realistic, but they did inform and reflect the culture at the time to a degree. Or those godawful WB/CW/ABC family type shows--though you could say the reflect the current era too, just that it's a shittier era.

No problem. I had the same issue as you when I first entered the job market. At some point, I just came to the conclusion that experience was necessary and I had to figure out how to Jew employers.

Just to reiterate because I think its important, remember to put UNRELATED work experience to what you're applying for, so that they know you'll need training and you don't have to feel bad asking questions. And obviously research whatever job you're lying about having experience doing in case they ask about it (and they probably will).

Other than that, you're good to go. Once you get the first job it's downhill from there.

Also, I find I can spot a mental millennial by their attitude toward to pop revival of the late 90's. I personally felt cheated and betrayed that the chill alt-rock culture started to die just as high school started. Now I see people talk nostalgically about some of that shit that started in 98. Anyone who really remembers the 90's knows that was the beginning of the end, and the portent to the cultural desert of the 00's.

Given the extent to which people within our immediate age group have embraced this stuff, they're not likely to set proper limits for their kids. In turn, their kids will properly start immersing themselves (and exposing themselves to advertisers) in FB and whatever else is fashionable shortly after kindergarten. The same is true of cellphone access and texting.

I think we're bound to encounter a generation that is more stunted, averse to conflict, image-conscious and neutered than ever before. Gaze avoidance will become more pronounced. Males will be harmed more than females. Serious and observable social deficits will emerge resembling mild autism, especially in relation to subtle cues and signals.

I think you're also on to something here. The conjugate of this statement is that everybody who wasn't a hyper-autist feels they're going to be a success without having to try. People walk into and out of life thinking that they don't have to do a damn thing and the "win" condition is already met. All the people earlier in the thread talking about how easy it was to make a buck and live in a comfy manner? A lot of our peers, bless their souls, think that was their birthright and forgot you had to do something at some point.

This also reminds me of a girl in my high school bitching about another one who had an opposing view of hers in some social justice thing because the girl who had the gall to think all white men weren't the devil wasn't a social butterfly and focused on hard STEM stuff a lot.

The crabs in a barrel analogy isn't just pertinent to the black community anymore. It's an american thing, now.

They aren't even entirely wrong. Success is mostly determined by connections now, which obviously the socially adept have in spades. The old mom-meme of "oh don't worry about Chad, honey, you'll be his boss one day, nerds rule the world!" is disproved every time you look out the goddamn window.

Sure, I think about this stuff all the time.

Its just that things have taken a really strange turn in the past ten or so years. Like a lot of other anons have already pointed out, it started around 9/11.

I think it has a lot of different factors but technology has also played a big role.

I find it weird to be eating lunch with my co-workers and all of them have their smartphones out, sifting through their twitter/fb/whatever feeds looking for funny videos to show each other and then move on.

I can't help but think that none of that existed a matter of years ago.

As r9k - eqsue as you're sounding, I can't refute that.
But EVERYONE believes they have connections and they can bullshit a way to the top without giving anything a second glance, like the woman posted earlier still paying off student loans from 20 years ago. It's why people feel they're entitled to free college/$15 an hour burger flipping/absolvement of debt despite the fact they buy new shoes, buy that new car, buy that new iPhone, etcetcetc.
A collective dissociation from responsibility has begun right as people are starting to think only in terms of collectives (average college kid thinking that any latino support Trump is a self hating Uncle Juan [Tio Tom?] on account of not following preconceived lines, you get what I mean, right?)

84 here.

I have to agree, most stuff pre 9-11-01 was nicer, I heard someone older than me talk about buying an extra sports car back then for his wife to drive because "money was just money in the 90's"

No SJWs, never had a problem with black people. I had a good part time job at 16 and you could afford to just drive around and burn gas if you were bored.

People had 5 to 15 minute attention spans on average. Even a moron could pay attention for a few minutes before the internet and social media gave everyone ADD.

Nobody gave a shit if something was gluten free. If someone with purple hair and nose ring demanded you call them by new pronouns, you could laugh maybe kick their ass if they didn't leave.

There were no "safe spaces", the worst thing college kids did was smoke weed and maybe get ONE tattoo, on a limb, not the face.

TV was a lot better too. Music sounded good without having to be on drugs. People honestly believed the future would be better than today. Nobody was cuckscared of their own shadow.

I feel sorry for millennials. Every dumb thing yall say or do is on text, picture or video record on kikebook or it's equivalent. Your embarrassing phases all people go through are gonna be on record for the rest of humanity.

OH, and a man running for president who said he was a socialist of a communist would be fucking shot, and nobody would have seen a thing.
