Legal marijuana is now a billion-dollar industry in Colorado

2015 Legal Marijuana Sales in Colorado : $996 Million

Tax Revenue: $135 Million

It is time to legalize it at a Federal level, folks.

You're right, people are definitely gonna buy less weed this year.

I live in the state. It brought degenerates in like mad. Denver has defiantly become a shittier place.

But I support a federal level effort into legalization, if it's legal everywhere they will have less of a incentive to move here.
>>
>>63720033
>But I support a federal level effort into legalization, if it's legal everywhere they will have less of a incentive to move here.
You hit the nail on the head here, m8. Im sorry weed ruined Denver even more but if more states legalized, you wouldnt be getting flooded with dindus like Europe. Some might even have incentive to leave and hopefully normalize your state.
God willing, Maryland will legalize in the next couple years
>>
>>63713590
It should be taxed at like 50% or higher.
>>
>>63720651
It will hurt peoples incentive to sell it legitimately if you tax it that high. You will just continue supporting a black market for it.
>>
>>63721024
Isn't the black market gone yet? Once it's legal they should really crack down on all illegal selling
>>
>>63717395
We fucking tried for years to get it legal, have honest white American hippies control the market. But no. You had to ban it. Had to let the cartels control it. Even after it's legalized, it's gonna take a while before all the Mexicans are forced out of the business.
>>
>>63721198
>Isn't the black market gone yet?
No. And that is completely due to rec. prices being higher than what you can find someone reselling medical stuff on craigslist for. It defiantly isn't as bad as it once was though.

>Once it's legal they should really crack down on all illegal selling
And how do you do that once it's legal? Demand a legitimate dealer recipe for every person who has it on there procession?
>>
>>63721571
Make the laws that are already relaxed for illegal drug dealing stricter, combine with everything else the war on drugs has been doing for the past couple decades
>>
>>63713590
Weed can be degenerate if you use it the wrong way

I full support that having a toke once every so often isn't exactly a bad thing

its bad when it becomes a morning to night "smoke weed errryyday" thing
>>
>>63721833
Same with alcohol and cigarettes, though.
>>
>>63721833
I second this, you gotta know what's good for you. Too many faggot kids just smoke all day cuz Snoop does.
>>
>>63721765
>Make the laws that are already relaxed for illegal drug dealing stricter,
You can't once it's legal. How we handled it before was if you have it on you, you are punished. What method would you use to separate the law-abiding folks who bought it at a dispensary with tax from the black market going crowd?

This is exactly why laws are such a clusterfuck in this country, you don't think shit all the way into it's implementation.
>>
>>63722041
How about an undercover cop selling weed? You know, like the do all the time all over the country. Or an undercover cop buying weed
>>
>>63722558
Then your tying up more and more resources into it, when those same cops could be out patrol streets. All over collection of tax, it's no different than prohibition or people making shine in the boonies.

The better solution is don't hurt profit incentive (that much) and tax it at something more reasonable than 50%.
>>
>>63723161
More cops could be hired with the income from the higher tax and it's not tying up police resources at all, its making more of them. I don't really understand your reference to alcohol, because making alcohol and selling alcohol without going through the proper licensing processes is illegal and that is enforced strictly.
>>
I live in Ohio and I cannot stress this enough:

It's fraud and degeneracy.

The so-called "balanced budgets" of the pothead states are a sham. The fact is that the average income in those states has gone down since decriminalization, since potheads do not work.

The tax revenue is like lottery revenue. It doesn't go to anyone but the governor's discretionary fund.

Degeneracy is destroying America. It is time to stop it.
>>
>let's turn our children into marijuana fueled zombies in exchange for some tax revenue
>>
>>63713590

Colorado can become a containment state. Colorado license plates will soon become justification for a cop to pull someone over and arrest.

Free College, Free Internet, and Universal Health Care if we legalized it at the federal level. Hell, we could even fund the military black budget four times over with the excess.

What a time to be alive.

>>

OP, agree that there should be no federal laws on the issue. There should also be no federal taxes. We want to starve them of any possible income increases.
>>
>>63726840
Awesome dude!
>>
>>63726623

Honestly, where are we going to draw the line with this shit? We ban alcohol and were taught it never works as it only fuels more crime but people who are willing to commit crimes and murder people just to get their fix are scum among scum. So we legalize Weed, what's going to be next because from experience we learn that degenerates try to go all the way - Gays, pedos, and trans for example. I'd say the issue is that there's no real culture and are society is too split up - usually degenerates were shunned and told to fuck off but now no one cares. It's more "lmao if it doesn't affect me I don't give a fuck they can do whatever they want" but that line of thinking got us where we are today.

>>
>>63726924
I'm really curious to see how my state handles everything. They've been incredibly open. In my city, Fairbanks, there is a Cannabis club that you can smoke at already. They of course can't sell, but they have coffee, snacks and anyone is free to leave samples or share their stuff. It is such a relaxed place.
>>
>>63725125
It already is. Most people I know get pulled over if they cross into Utah after dark. I personally have been pulled over in Moab despite not smoking period.
>>
Okay, I'm from Northern Virginia (not a Yankee though) and have been wondering how "legalization" works in Washington, DC. I've heard very little about it. Does my money go towards children's hospitals if I buy there or is it still Pedro's decapitation cartel?

>>63727626

>>
>>63727756
Yeah, as far as I know we're the only state to legally allow it. The council made a decision not to explicitly ban them, and so far the city council has said they want to give them time and that they don't see any reason that they can't exist. I fucking love my city and my state so much, we're the most free by far.
>>
>>63727756
>Colorado doesn't allow cafes of that type
Actually, bars who are older than the no smoking ban weren't required to ban smoking though many did. Likewise, you can smoke weed in the grandfathered establishments if the proprietor allows it. For example, there's one grandfathered bar in Durango, but they don't allow weed smoking inside the bar.

Wrong. Wages have stagnated here in Colorado due to influx of transplants increasing competition for the available jobs. Employers can now lowball and still find quality employees
>>
It's really true, everyone I know on Colorado says all the roads are getting redone, a bunch of money is getting put into school systems, it's nuts, pro or anti marijuana, you can't deny the positive economic effects of having it as a legal, taxable substance rather then classified as just as bad as heroine and opium.

I will never understand why people are against taking revenue out of the hands of criminal organizations and putting it into the hands of their countrymen, not to mention collecting taxes from it.

People already use it in places where it's illegal, and nobody's excuse for not using it is "it's illegal". Never used it myself, but I there's no good reason it shouldn't be legal.
>>
Pot, cocaine and a whole host of other drugs should be legal, not in it's purest form though.

It's your fucking body and you should be able to do what the fuck you want with it and the government would make a shit ton of money from it.
