To be fair, while I understand the sentiment, people usually don't give a shit about things happening to people they don't associate with. Western people identify with each other, so when an attack happens where many western people are killed, we are prone to more empathy. It doesn't necessarily mean we think Baghdad lives are worth less, but as humans we don't associate with them.
