he put a rear tire on the front. He should have at least had the sense to mount it backwards
>>
>>15388023
Why?

Front tires usually have the tread facing the opposite way. I can't explain the reason but I pretty much all street bike front tires have their tread grooves pointing towards the rear.
>>
>>15388043
I never understood that in general, would think that would direct water to in front of the wheel instead of moving it out of the way
>>
I really want a pair of boots but they're expensive
>>
>>15388047
Maybe because it might cause water to be pushed under the wheel while turning?
>>
>>15388052
A pair of good boots is like €100-150
>>
>>15388047
Probably because cornering traction needs to be maximized. You don't want to lean the bike over and suddenly be hydroplaning
>>
>>15388043
Front tire needs to be able to stop the bike. Rear tires job is to propel it forward. So they both need maximum grip/structural integrity for opposite directions.
>>
>>15388054
>>15388059
then why does the rear tyre tread go the opposite direction?
>>
>>15388043
It's for traction, duh.
>most important traction for front tire = braking = thread to rear
>most important traction for rear = acceleration = thread to front

Mounting your front wheel the same way as the rear is supposed to go improves wear resistance but hinders grip when braking or slowing down, also makes it hydroplane easier.

Mounting your rear tire the way your front tire is supposed to go makes it skid under acceleration and worsens wear but improves resistance to hydroplaning, grip and braking
>>
I always get different answers on this:
What's a stickier tire, the Pilot Power or Pilot Power 2CT?
I had originally thought the 2CT was just a Power with a harder center compound, but it seems like it may have a softer compound on the sides instead.
>>
>>15388075
The 2CT is mostly the same as the normal PP but the edges are slightly softer. Most people never even lean the bike far enough to get to the softer compound.

No backpack, it's fucking annoying having a backpack on log rides.
The hoodie is superficial, and you can get a cheaper jacket.

Also digging with your hand is more fun

Not hard to strap a backpack to your bike then put it on your back when you want to get off.

Do you really need new tires and carb? What are your tires like?

I was looking at my tires earlier and they still have enough tread but they're squared, showing minor cracks and over seven years old so I'm thinking it would be best to replace them.

I'm not sure about the carbs, but it seems like it's leaking a little bit from somewhere. And these carbs would also mean more power.

I need some help for my son

I'm a motorcycle enthusiast, and I've been grooming my son to be one as well, and although I am well versed in my own European laws, my son lives in Georgia and I have no idea how their laws work. I want to get him a 49cc cagiva mito, however I don't know of that specific 49cc would fall under moped or mini bike because of its class, or if it would be treated as a full blown cycle. I'm trying to make sense of the laws right now but I don't really get them, so could anyone clear up this little conundrum for me? Would I be able to get him this bike or would I have to settle for a Vespa or something like that
>>
>>15388277

The gf wasn't the reason why I am not going to SEM. I need a new place because fuck flatsharing, I want a new PC (6 year old ALDI Laptop is shit), license upgrade, full leathers, CBF600, track days brah and a Miata.
Will definitely save moneys to come to SEM next year again, even if it means delaying new bike / track days / Miata plans. But PC is urgent now and flat even more so.

But maybe I'll ride down to Cologne for a long weekend and get hookers with WR anyways ;^)

looks like you're comparing off-road boots to roadrace boots. You'll likely find the left to be stiffer, bulkier, taller, heavier, and generally less practical if you ever need to walk around in them off the bike. However they should be more protective for your feet, ankles, and lower legs

Could be because of the supercharger. Which lets me forgive that.

And with the R Nine T, I guess the engine does break the shape up a little bit, a version with a smaller displacement engine based on the S1000R block would be awesome, maybe a same design engine but a 600, with the classic design.
>>
>>15389025
>R1150GS

Well that's different then, whilst it's a bike that you can get some speed on, it's no ta bike that gives the impression of being a fast machine, whereas if you're gonna give a bike a retro racer look, and even call it a 'Racing' model, it'd be nice if they either put it on a diet, or beefed up the engine.

18 y/o student here, I don't browse /o/ much at all but it's now time for me to get some way of moving around and I found a Lexmoto ZSX 124cc bike up for £375 over autotrader. It's done 17,024 miles, and I haven't checked up on what the insurance might be yet - but from these figures, do you guys think it's worth it?
In addition, what are some common problems I should look for when I go to investigate it? I'm a complete beginner to biking, and I haven't even taken a CBT yet.
>>
>>15389210

It depends on how long you plan being on a 125. If you're just gonna ride it for a month whilst you get your test, go for it, if you plan on riding any longer, spend more on a better bike, as that thing will fall apart very quickly.

I'm fine with it, but then we need to discuss which route to take together as I now already have 3 places to go on the way to Bled.

Maybe I can get to WR and then to your place in a single day, then two days to the Italians and riding the last day together to bled.
Otherwise I might have to start riding the 24th, with a hangover from the two parties the days before.

I've looked at the CBR300R first because it was cheaper but according to almost every review it's practically a 250cc. I do love Honda though, my next bike will be a CBR600RR.

One of the first dirtbikes I rode when I was a kid (probably 12 or 13) was a Husqvarna 500 2 stroke, it was so tall I had to find stumps and rocks to put my feet down on to stop and start. Sounds like your nephew might have a chance at making it in this pussified world where people are afraid to start on litre bikes.

should be doable, yes.
do you plan to meet up with some italians before riding to bled, or what have you already planned until now?
if I don't meet up with anyone before bled I'm going there in two days, caming somewhere in southern Tyrol or around Stelvio

I believe it's the Italians that are going to be in Cimolais (The Dolomites), my second route takes me there. I think it might be a more scenic route although it's a fair bit longer and expensive.

ah yes, I remember, they said about camping in the Dolomites
That would be too long for me to do in one day, only possible if I start a day earlier and take this extra day to camp somewhere else before going to the Dolomites
Cimolais is quite near to Bled

Requesting advice from SEM peoples. I have a choice of two ferries to France and I have to get from Cherbourg to Bled on a 125cc. Should I take the earlier one which will give me five days to get there or do you think I could make the journey in the three days the later ferry would give me?

>>

I see. I haven't really done much long distance travel so I don't really know how far I can go in a day. I would rather arrive early than end up missing half the meet though so I guess earlier might be best.
>>
>>15389521
That's why I said two days to the Italians, even in good health I can't reach that in one day.

Suzuki GS500 or Kawasaki ER-5?

I'm getting to the end of the choosing process.
>>
>>15389907
ER 5 looks better.
>>
>>15389931
I agree, but I don't care about the look, I care about reliability and gas mileage
>>
>>15389937
well I dont know from personal exp. but both are very similar and reputed as reliable. Its not like you have to choose between a GS500 and a Norton Commando
>>
>>15389956
Yeah, figured. I need the first bike, I need it simple.

/dbt/, is it normal to have the urge to open up your leg when to taking a sharp turn, almost like going knee down without really trying to?
>>
Hello I have a question . I have a 90 suzuki gs 550 change the engine for 250 Chinese I have problems with sprocket
>>
>>15389987
I used to have that urge when I started and would sometimes let my leg open out. Forced myself to stop though because obviously it's a bit stupid if you don't have knee protection.
>>
>>15388564
Don't buy anything without a title. Owner MUST sign it under "Seller", thusly giving ownership to whoever is holding the title
No title, no purchase
Next, bring the title and proof of insurance to the DMV
They give you registration and plate
If you want to ride it home, it will likely be uninsured and unregistered, do so only if you live very close.
A cop can and will suspend your licence and impound bike for no registration/insurance
