The mountain has claimed many talented lives over the years. Hopefully we have a safe race this year. I really have to admire the motorcycle riders. They are really risking it for the ultimate in motorsports.
I had a chance to talk to some of the bikers last year when the race was stopped at Glen Cove because of weather and all the racers came down to my spectator area.
2 of the bikers I spoke with told me that it was scarier coming down at slow speeds and seeing everything below. But when you're racing up towards the clouds you don't think about it.
