One: Actually demand transparency, safeguards and independent corruption and watchdog institutions that can carry out investigations into the Government, it's members, public servants and other Government institutions and departments. Hoarding is a massive problem in Venezuela and smuggling of goods into Columbia is also a huge issue, do you honestly believe that Government ministers and such though do not play a massive role in this? How in fuck did a years supply of medical goods end up in Columbia? That's what? hundreds of trucks?
Two: Actually admit the US and the West is fucking you in the ass. This is the core of the "resource curse". The US and other western countries will fuck with and corrupt your politicians to self sabotage your country to force down the price of resources. This happens in developing nations all over the place and is well documented.
Three: Diversification of the economy. This will never happen unless two is taken care of sadly. The reason third world countries don't diversify is the west likes to keep developing nations reliant on resources. Once a nation has diversified it's economy, it has freedom to jack the prices of it's resources.
Four: The PSUV are corrupt pieces of shit, but the opposition is very unlikely to be any better. Venezuela, like most developing nations, has structual issues which sadly corruption and bad institutions are simply a symptom of. Much of what the PSUV is saying is actually true, the US is meddling in Venezuela to crazy amounts (read Wikileaks leaks, Codename: McRevolution has been in play for several years) but that doesn't absolve the PSUV from being completely and utterly fucking retarded corrupt pieces of shit. The important issue is, unless you educate yourself, and look at the wider picture, Venezuela will stay the same corrupt shithole it's been since the 1960s. The reality of the situation is that allowing political power to be centralized among a small group of people who have no restriction to their power leads to terrible governments. Socialism works if many people work together when formulating government institutions and don't allow the people directly running those institution work without maticulious oversight. Socialism works when the citizen actually do have the power over the decisions of their government. How exactly you create the right environment for this to occur is very complex.
Highschool history classes in the USA have an intense focus on the failures of more centralized governments and attempt to gloss over successes of these governments. That focus leads to the classes implying that there is no situation where socialist governments work or any government where you have to allot decision making to any body that is not you.
