There's nothing low brow about it, except maybe it's perception by the public. The Camorra, the Mafia and the 'Ndraghetta all specialise in different things as far as I've read so it's kinda silly to compare them.

The american mafia isn't affiliated to the italian families. In fact, the camorra and ndrangheta both have very strong connections to the american crime groups.
