Remove this element or block this element. I've done it countless times. Removes every overlay blocking the page. Also removes those transparent shits people put to prevent right click save as on images.
Serving a different page to adblock users would at least require a moment of effort to bypass, but this one is so easy as to be laughable.
>>54532177
why did I read this as "Disabling javascript on the kike"
>>54531868

Not guilty then. I disallow all scripts by default and whitelist only ones that seem relevant to page content.
It's the only way around browser lag with loads of tabs, and prevents tons of malware infections.
>>54530327
Feels good to be European for once. Hope every anti ad-blocker company get sued into oblivion once the legislation is in place.
>>54530844
using that site is probably unwise.
I didn't even have to block anything.
>>54532456
I for one hope this misguided legislation gets repealed. Legal remedies for technological problems almost never work as intended, and often end up causing nasty unintended side effects. The one exception is cases where there's no viable techological fix for the problem. Things like net neutrality where an ISP can block or throttle traffic and you can't really do anything about it if they've done it competently.
Adblock blocking is a problem where not only is there a technological fix, but it's already deployed. Users just need to check the anti-anti-adblock filter list and most of the problem is gone, and the extension could be made to check it by default.
Yes, the adblock blocker companies will surely work to evade filters, but the filters will be updated just as quickly, and with far less effort than was spent to evade them. It's cat-and-mouse and the mice always win in the end.
>// LEGAL NOTICE: The content of this website and all associated program code are protected under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Intentionally circumventing this code may constitute a violation of the DMCA.
You fucking what?
>>54532265
Their scrip doesn't do that, it deletes the content elements on the site so even if you block the "overlay" you end up with nothing.
It is the same method wired is using, maybe even the same script.
But because the script is inline you can just block first party scripts and it still works. Many sites don't even use first party scripts for anything important.
>>54532868
Yeah. Then simply block the script.
3rd party script? Block the domain it comes from.
1st party external script? Block the js file path.
1st party inline script? Block that element or run it through a local filtering proxy.

>>54533171
>So there we go, use Googlebot's user agent and no wankcuntery for you.
Actually that probably won't work. If their script works by deleting content elements that have already been served up, it doesn't need to be disabled for Googlebot UA. Googlebot reads content and doesn't execute the script.
And this is the code.
https://ybin.me/p/81e4c1d347cca256#CSezMVcxflCOLfJxRsoO4aq+wqRJMYazpLF8Is6SrSE=
A quick browse through of the code, it appears to make a div called banner_ad at a negative position (off screen) and then checks if the div display value gets changed to hidden or none, maybe some other checks as well.
Basically it is planting something to trigger the adblocker and then reacting when it does by deleting content.

>>54531843
You'd be surprised. Most Linux users are dumb enough even to paste commands from the web into their shell. Those are the folks administering most web servers these days.
>>54533338
>enable javascript to view a pastebin clone with light on dark theme and a weird custom scrollbar
>shows it in a 2 line high area
Fuck this cut rate pastebin clone
Okay, there are three levels to this script and it is pretty fucking gay.
1) it tries to make a div off screen called banner_ad and sees if it gets hidden
2) it tries to load favicons from ad domains like google, doubleclick and yahoo and sees if they fail to load
3) it tries to load a handful of images from a selection of other ad domains such as ebay, mail.ru, espn, foxnetworks and more and checks the result. A note here that the filenames it requests are random and probably don't exist on the servers but any response, even a 404, is more than you get from the request being blocked.
The major concern I have here is that even if you request a flat file from a server that request can still be rewritten so it will be parsed through something like php and thus the content delivered can be dynamic, this means that these websites it is randomly picking to test adblocking could deliver javascript into the browser and thus malware.
This blockadblock script is literally dangerous.
>>54533867
Just view source and copy the code out senpai.
>>54533906
You can see it attempting to connect to random ad domains in your browser console as well.
>>54533960
i could do that, but i could also fuck your mom. do you really want people going around doing things just because they "could?"
>>54534006
Yes.
>>54533906
Pretty cool breakdown.
I am no webdev but wouldn't a better method to block ad blockers be to check for blockers before requesting dynamic content from the content management system. Detecting a blocker must still be done, but it would eliminate any opportunity of content viewing by blocking the script out the div.
>>54534006
Well, my mom has been really lonely since my dad died, so if you could do that I'm sure she would appreciate it
>>54534018
The problem is that they are loading things from other websites so it would mean that the content wouldn't load until after those websites have responded.
Having a slow website looks bad, so it would be a detrimental setup even for those who aren't blocking ads.
This is why they also specifically say to place the script at the bottom of the webpage, so that it will be parsed by the browser after the content has been parsed.
>>54533639
Are you talking about yourself?
uBlock origin here. No suicidal ideation here.
>>54534079

>>54534079
Don't then this is basically the epitomy of anti adblock? Are there any other possible solutions?
>not having AdBlock Block Unblocker for AdBlock Blocked Ad Blocks 2016
>no scriptblock block
its useless
it's just an obfuscated script embedded into the html... nothing to stop you from just blocking that script anyway
also lol@anyone who thinks pasting an obfuscated javascript eval() into their site is a good idea. this script could be doing anything, including loading in another script from a remote resource. letting a third-party inject their own javascript into your site is giving them the keys to the castle so you better fucking trust them 100%
>>54534169
The solution is to look for a better funding model because web advertising is actively out to scam you as a content provider.

>>54535418
There's actually two groups complaining about adblockers. There's the actual websites that are being moderately affected by them and there's the advertising agencies that are slowly being cut off.
Websites are resorting to anti-adblocking scripts(not this one though this one is just dumb).
The advertising agencies are trying to fight back at adblockers themselves by making them illegal. There's a gorup that represents ad agencies that has repeatedly tried to sue adblock plus. They paint the story as adblock plus stealing their revenue with their acceptable ads shit.
>>54535512
I can't really see this panning out for them. It's like other people say, whenever technology and law get into an arms race the law always loses.

Because the site matched a filter.
"Strict blocking" is the default behavior in uBlock Origin. If you navigate a site that has been blacklisted the request will be intercepted and a warning page will be put up instead. Some of ublock origin's blocklists involve sites that distribute malware so allowing you to visit them wouldn't be very useful. >entirety of the Internet suffers slower page loading speeds, regardless of whether you adblock or not
Kek. Either adblocking or adblock blocking has to be made illegal for the good of the Internet.
This is one of the endless loops where neither party will give up, and as a result the number of scripts on pages will rise exponentially over time.
One party has to be stopped by an outside force otherwise we're doomed.
>>54543365
Considering the webmasters/site owners have a finical interest in the functionality of their website, I'm willing to bet that they'll give up first.
>>54543460
Funny that you mention it.
Because the deeper into the block-blocking hole we go, the bigger the market for websites that are simply ad-free and use no silly scripts.
So at some point the big "anti-adblock" sites will just be undermined by simple alternatives.
Can't say I'm not looking forward to it.
>>54542963
>this antiadblock is a contentblocking div and not a content div deleting script
>>54542983
Now this is true.
Mind you I believe the file names it requests are random and probably don't exist on the servers, which means you get 404 or nothing as results, and it only requests from a few of the total pool of domains it has in the script to spread the load, but it is still using up resources and if the popularity of the script were to grow it would result in more and more connections being made to those servers, not enough to effectively DDoS but every connection is a use of server resource.
