Anyone have experience with these? They are processor cards meant for making small supercomputers. Called Xeon Phi or the newer ones are called Knights Landing I think.

Would building a computer with a few of these be useful for my university? We don't have any computers like this at our campus only at the mathematics campus. Theirs runs at 5tflop and my potential build would be at 2tflop.

Is that useful for anything? I am just looking for a project to do. I have experience with linux and building machines.

Ask that to the people wanting to do massively parallel computations at your university.

Could I use this to run things similar to AWS E3 services? Like could I run apache pig scripts on it faster than a regular computer?

No. If you have to ask what this is for, you don't need it.

I didn't say I would need it personally, I asked if it would be useful at 2tflops.

Also I just looked it up and one of the uses Intel suggests is using apache pig, hadoop, and map reduce. Why would you say no if you didn't know the answer?
