I'm currently using an LG G3. It came out in 2014 and I haven't had a single problem with it. M is finally showing up OTA, I'll probably keep it until 2017 unless there's an amazing Nexus this fall

how do you like that docking station? Thinking about getting one so I can plug this thing into a 24" monitor easily
>>
>>53830851
yeah, its nice. its the model 4337, so 6x usb2, audio in/out, gigabit, VGA, DP, and DVI-D. Not the one with 5 screen outputs. I only have iGPU so it doesnt really matter anyways. Apparently you cant wake the laptop with the keyboard if its connected to the dock, which is kind of weird for Lenovo to do intentionally.

I like this thread idea, OP.
Using a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop here, from around 2009. Core2Duo 2,1Ghz, 4GB RAM, running Fedora 23 with GNOME. Works like a charm.
Phone is a Nexus 5, which I don't consider old yet, but when people update their phones every year or so >2 years is probably quite old.
My Nexus 7 2013 still works fine as well. Those 2 Nexi are the best technical devices I've ever owned.
>>
>>53830486
diyModded iPod Video Enhanced 5.5 with a pair of Elna Silmic IIs as the output caps and a cmoy to amp it from there.

It's almost 10 years old but there's still no reason to upgrade. Music players have only gotten worse as far as their primary function is concerned.

Feels smug desu. Nexus 4 battery a shit though.
>>
>>53831701
Nexus 4s battery was never that good to begin with, unfortunately. In my experience smartphone batteries kick the bucket after around 2-3 years

My desktop as it is is just fine. I have a 4k monitor but don't play many (if any) demanding games and the few that I do I'm just going to buy a small 1440x900 monitor to play them on. Maybe in 2-3 more years I'll upgrade to something used again but I'm definitely fine for now.

Currently using an iPhone 6s, no reason to upgrade yet although the SE frame is objectively better other than screen size. Might need to upgrade when the 7 come out depending on what it brings. Also my w520 is still going strong. I wouldn't mind upgrading at some point for better hardware and maybe smaller formfactor, but not as big of a fan of the newer Thinkpad keyboard and they're rather expensive considering I don't need a new one.

Yea it was 2x 590s which is like 4x 580s or so when clocked to stock 580 speeds. My main issues with the setup now is heat and lack of Vram 590s only have 1.5gb effective ram

Here is the benchmark we used to use back then
Heaven 3.0
>>53832590
Been waiting on pascal and a new chip forever with this rig
Problem with going like 980ti or something is its all on a water loop and the new shit is fine on just air. Also stacked ram cards are around the corner(april 5th anouncement)
But 590s are still one of the best cards for Blender rendering

All of my cameras are outdated and still take great photos: Nikon D700 is like 3 generations old (it uses fucking CF memory cards), Ricoh GR has been replaced with a GRII, my film cameras are obviously all obsolete especially my Leica M3 which is now 62 years old.

Various mechanical and quartz watches, some of them decades old.

I think pretty much the only hot new tech I have is a Dell XPS13 and some of the more recently upgraded parts of my PC like the SSD and the IPS 1440p monitor.

Actually no, I upgraded from a hd5870 to the gtx 680.

Got the i7+mobo around 3 years ago, got the gtx 680 last year.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with performance. Getting a pretty solid 70fps in planetary annihilation even during most battle intensive scene. Definitely a cpu bottleneck. Definitely worth the price.

My Phenom 1090t build is still rocking pretty hard. Windows 10 is slower than most modern builds, but part of that is the HDD. Otherwise it's blazing fast on Linux. Even my complaint about Windows 10 isn't so bad.

My HD 6950 plays most modern games at medium-high, 1080p 60fps. Happy there. Only game giving me problems is Fallout 4 but that's due to poor optimization. Anything from 2011 down can be maxed out and hey, most of the games I love are either older or graphically less intensive.

Compiles code decently fast and it's difficult for me to max out my 8GB DDR3. To be fair, if I have enough Vboxes open, it does hang.

Mobo is a ASUS 990FX - it's alright but cries about boot order and stuff sometimes.

My case (HAF X) has taken a beating and still works fine. The important fans are still spinning. Need to replace a couple.

i think an older PPC Mac is the next on my 'Get' List. I got to add this to my IBM collection last week thanks to my girlfriend's dad - gave it to me along with two 16:10 19" LCD VGA monitors after Easter Sunday dinner. Im gonna see how many vintage games i can run on here, and use DOSBox to run Tandy1000 games on it as well.

How does it handle the extra heat from the i7? I have the discrete nvidia chip in mine and it has a hard time keeping things cool.
Not sure if I could swap out the i5 to an i7 and not have rampant heat issues.
>>
>>53848307
idles 40-42, here it is running photoshop and chrome and it's around 45. it doesn't overheat at all

I'm going to swap an nvidia board into it eventually, I don't think it'll be a problem. Have you redone your thermal paste? the i5 it originally had idled around 50 with factory paste

I have two T420's, the iGPU one idles around 30-40c with full load hitting 60-70c. The nvidia one idles between 40-50c, under load it can hit 80-90c.
Both machines have been repasted with Arctic Silver 5 and have been cleaned thoroughly.
>>
>>53848377

hmm. Yeah, this one puts out heat like your nvidia one. don't think i've seen over 90, rarely over 80

The nVidia chip performs well for an mobile chip of five years ago, it just makes a lot of heat doing it. I found if I want to play a game on it, I need to take the machine off the dock as it partially blocks airflow.

depending on the phase of the moon, you might get a better deal on a 100lx or 200lx, which are physically identical except they boot into an organizer menu. just put your own autoexec.bat on the C: drive and it'll boot to command prompt like god intended

i7 3770k @ 4.3
GTX 980 Ti

I really don't want to upgrade the cpu till that IPC of future Intel chips are at least 25% faster at stock speed than my overclock, or at the very least when 8 core real core cpus are the new "standard".

I had a GTX 680 but up until last summer, games these days seem to need at least 3GB at 1080p & I wanted something I knew would at least last for 2 release cycles.

Nokia 108. Bought two. Durable battery, has SD slot, reads mp3. What else would you want? I also have an old screenbroken Acer LiquidMini that I use with another number, just to use whatsapp web when I'm home (since the battery's dead it's constantly plugged in my monitor's usb port, I only use it to scan whatsapp web QR)
>laptops
Pic related, toshiba satellite L655. I could add some RAM but I use it as a DAW and it works just fine. My main workhorse in the last 5 years. Got it used in 2011 for 250 euros, the screen broke 2 months after the previous owner bought it, after a fall. I took the whole monitor half out. I couldn't be happier with it - it's very light (I have 3 monitors, each one where I use it). My only fear is that I don't know when it will abandon me, and when that time comes, I don't know what will replace it (I was thinking about mini ITXs with a good processor, but I'm worried about effective portability - the main offender being the PSU space-wise). It also runs some modern games surprisingly good (MGSV above everything else truly surprised me - it's such a shame a good engine like that has been used only in this game).
>mp3 players

Old phones rarely end up in landfills unless someone just throws them in a trashcan. Most people trade them in, they get refurbished, then they're resold. Even when they finally go to be trashed, they get picked apart for any salvageable parts.
