You get greater range of motion with db bench and making each arm work individually prevents you from overcompensating with your dominant arm on heavy lifts. This doesn't make db bench "objectively superior" or anything like that, but it's an acceptable reason for somebody to prefer it.

It depends entirely on your goals. If you want to build muscle and get good overall chest strength that dumbbells are great! But if you wanna go hurrdurr i can lift 315 on bench w shit form then gtfo. Dumbbells work the stabilizers as well as the chest. Helps with muscle gain.

You can't progressive overload properly with dumbbells. Even at gyms with 2kg intervals in dumbbells, you're going up a total of 4kg anytime you want to increase. Bearing in mind db press is harder, it doesn't even directly compare to 4kg on barbell. So yeah, if you're some faggot who has finished getting stronger and wants to rep out the same weight for 12 reps then they're great.
