I actually preferred the world-building we had at the beginning of Korra. Asian steampunk + magic and communist terrorists, it just spelled out awesome.
I like Korrasami.
That's pretty much the only reason most people are still watching LoK.

Does season 2 onward get better?
I enjoyed season 1 to a point but the more I thought about it, the less I liked it. Plus, a lot of people have said it's shit, and the whole dark avatar thing is ripped from an edgy 14 year old's fanfiction,like the one I wrote a few years backbut I want ot believe.

I agree and I honestly have no idea how they did that. The setting was great and unique, the villain was much more interesting than Ozai and Korra started out as a much better character than Aang. Sure, she needed some polishing up, but so did Aang and that's what character development is for. Somehow they managed to screw it up though.

Ignoring the ignorant and downright annoying, Season 2 has some good parts, like the Spirit world and the Tenzin siblings, but it also has some issues with plot (like the Dark Avatar thing) animation, and romance. THough I consider the latter more of a deconstruction of the romance of S1. You can actually skip S2, and just jump immediately to the most recent season, 3, that has the Exbendables team, aka the Red Lotus, which are some of the best characters the Avatar-verse has brought forth so far. Though I would still recommend just grinding through S2, preferably marathonning, since the bad things don;t have the time to linger if you keep the pace up.

I actually quite liked that.
One thing I dreaded when LoK was coming around would be that every episode was them visiting locations from A:TLA but going LOOK AT HOW MUCH THIS HAS CHANGED OVER THE LAST 70 YEARS! I actually preferred them staying in ONE new location... shame the execution failed in many other regards
Overall I'd say:
Earth > Water > Fire > Change (so far) > Air > Spirits (IMO the only legitimately bad season on the franchise)
