There was once a war between humans and demons, and humans won through crafting legendary weapons. They are fighting over one of those weapons wight now, and the key is that the weapon needs both the sword and its scabbard together to have its full power. One major element upcoming is that they will need the help of a female demonlord if they were to have a chance against the main badguy.

Note that the Japanese translation takes twice as long to pronounce. This must be what Butcher meant by saying the Japanese voice actors have a hard time; they had to speak faster than usual because the mouthflaps are in Taiwanese.
This caused the opposite problem with the Hellsing Ultimate English dub, where they had to extend dialogue just to give enough lines to match the mouthflaps. It seems Japanese is just a very long-winding language.

It is well known in Taiwan that they don't hesitate to brutally kill characters. Though the TV series franchise had been going on so long that they end up similar to Western Comics, in that most major characters have died and resurrected at least once if not multiple times, and half the time when a supposed new character show up it tend to be an old character back with a new identity.

Urobuchi's fantasy works are the most obscure, practically no one has read them. There is Hakubou no Dendoushi which is about a dark elf who worships chaos who ends up helping a half-elf girl get her revenge.
The other one is a serialized LN with Yun Kouga, it's sort of inspired by the time they used to play monster hunter. It's about 2 guys bonding together and doing fun quests.

Are the spoken names different to the Taiwanese written in the subs? I don't know enough about Taiwanese to know how it should be pronounced even when romanized but the audio doesn't seem to match. If so I wish the subbers would put the Japanese names in the subs so I can actually parse it.

What the siblings were, ごいんし (Goinshi) is SO much easier to write in English than the Chinese equivalent. They are from the Shinkai Makai realm. Trying to pronounce 神誨魔械 in Chinese using English is just a massive headache.
Qiong Mu Zhi Zhan is just the name of the demon war that ended a long time ago. Calling it "きゅうぼ War" would have been more meaningful.

There are two names for everything; the Chinese/Taiwanese and the Japanese. It would be wise to use the Japanese versions of the names as that is what the Japanese dub uses, and they are much more easier to read.

Pili Land is a world without governments, where there is no police, no law, and where warlords, gangsters, and demons are basically indistinguishable from one another. You have Taoists, Buddhists and Demons forming alliances and basically mini nations, but in general none of the factions are "good guys". The two major protagonists in the classic TV series are a Taoist and a Buddhist respectively, but both of them want nothing to do with their own factions and rather help people on their own.
I normally like Sawano's music, but damn was it not fitting at all here. They definitely should have gotten someone else, or actually forced him to compose something different from his normal stuff that would actually fit a Taiwanese puppet show.
That said it was fun as fuck, Urobuchi's already going full butcher.

Dude, you can't be wrong more. In my country animation always had great tradition and we many times used various animation techniques that are neither of which you said. One of these techniques was even using puppets. And trust me, that arranging puppets is animation to same degree as drawing pictures. In both cases those are motionless things whith which you create ilusion of move. That's animation.
And if I remember correctly loong ago, we had similar collaboration with Japanese production just like Taiwan with this now. Of course PILI's work is now much more effective and stylish, than our puppet animation back then. But that of course is given by year of creation.

Nah, the fact is the siblings were running for their lives. If she had any powers she would have used it. The background is that she was from a family of guardians charged with hiding magical weapons away from dangerous people, and they are clearly failing in their task somehow.

The entire filming was done by the Tiwanese team. Butcher wrote the original script and plan the scenes, which are then translated to Chinese and explained to the Pili Studio. The Pili Studio then film the entire thing their way, because Butcher has no idea what the fuck the Puppet Masters are doing. Then the film, by then dubbed in original Taiwanese Chinese, is then sent back to Japan for re-dubbing back to the Japanese script.
The other elements are the character design, which were Japanese in 2D art, and the actual building of the puppets, which were done in Taiwan.

The interesting thing is that clearly, anime designers would have loved to create characters who dress like this. But they would be hell to animate so they don't bother. Puppets however, can have any number of complicated costumes.
(It seems there is a "master" puppet for closeups, and stunt-puppets for when they needed to physically abuse them in action scenes. And that even Butcher himself was not allowed to touch the Master puppets.)
