The Slender Man phenomenon, in which the fictitious concept of a supernatural murderer went viral and has allegedly inspired real attacks, may be seen as an example of the Stand Alone Complex.

And just like a dream where it feels like your somewhere else, you are, but because the body can longer facilitate itself it powers off for good.
