My mac has decided to finally give up on me but I'm refusing to let it.
Basically I have been left needing to reinstall my OS, yet I can't find a disk to install on. Already verified the disk and it says everything is fine.

So it doesn't see your HDD properly at all. Go into terminal and type
diskutil list
and see what it says

It's looks like it can only see the recovery partition, I think your hard drive is just fucked. What mac is it? It may be easily replaceable depending on how old it is.
You can also use an external drive as a boot disk if you have one lying around.
