Is there any anime that's actually funny? I'm starting to think comedy doesn't translate as well as drama does.
I do like WataMote, but mainly because of Tomoko and how she's a relatable waifu. I'm also watching Space Dandy right now, but the comedy falls flat; what makes it for me is the space adventure stuff.

There are a lot of American cartoons I find funny.
Nichijou had the highest number of laugh-out-loud moments for me (most series have about zero such moments, I think WataMote had 1 or 2)

There's typically Japanese comedy with a straight man and a funny man. It doesn't translate well. Most anime have this.
Then there's parody humor. This is for the people who have watched lots of anime and like meta-humor.
Then there's toilet humor and sex jokes. This should translate very well.
Then there's Gintama. It has all of this and more.

Gakkougurashi; hilarious girls try to survive zombie apocalypse through silly shenanigans.
Laughed so many times it was unbelievable.
