Found this wallpaper of Björk. How could I get an effect similar to this on Photoshop?

so I'm not in photoshop and don't know it's vocabulary.
open your leaf up
put your bjork image that is pretty simple and has a very light background over top
desaturate the bjork
blend the bjork by difference (this is where I don't know the word)
mess around with bjork's levels

Thanks. I was able to do just that, and I got something similar to your picture. How can I easily get rid of the purple though?

>make it b&w
>mess with the levels to get a high contrast
>apply gradient map matching the corresponding tones
>add leaf in a new layer
>set leaf layer's blending mode to "lighten"
>adjust leaf layer's opacity and black and white layer's levels until you are happy with the result, or leave it like it is
