Already tried the anime, I found it kind of boring and too SoL. The romance seemed like somewhat of a side plot, but I can see why people like it a lot.

Jitsu wa watashi wa is a pretty good comedy/romance manga. But it's pretty slow at first and while the romance is the main plot I'm not sure it's exactly what you're looking for.
