As someone kindly pointed out to me on qa, 4chan is kinda popular. People see "free photoshop requests here, get help with your homework etc" on the sticky.

apart from designated containment boards (/pol/, /r9k/, /trash/, /mlp/) 4chan in general is full of "normal" people (whatever that even means). you can expect that anyone who has spent any prolonged time on the internet in the last 10 years has at least some knowledge of 4chan. hell, i discovered it in 2007 and people were already complaining about 4chan going mainstream. lolcats, rickrolls, internet terrorists, anonymous, project chanology, lulzsec, the fappening, etc - 4chan has had so many instances of blowing up in mainstream media, it's honestly a surprise not more people are here. 4chan is one of the biggest forums on the web these days.
most of 4chan's visitors now have dayjobs, girlfriends, tits they aren't showing, aren't virgins, and don't even live in basements. oh the times - they are a-changin' :-)
4chan's site traffic tripped in the weeks after that newscaster did that whole "hacker known as 4chan" bullshit. Over half of those new users stayed, mostly contained to /b/ (thank God). Other events COINCIDENTALLY happened shortly after that that put 4chan in the media spotllight again. I don't remember them all but I believe they were gaymer gate and the celebrity nude leak and others. Then you start seeing 4chan related clickbait on youtube, the '4chan twitch raid' videos that have nothing to do with 4chan. These things are bringing in unwanted normies to this website. Probably da Jews fault. I would find some google analytics to back this up but I might cry. Have pic related instead.

/pol/ was created because jewt saw how much of a hypocrite he was being by bitching to girlvynil about deleting the encyclopediadramatica database, after he had deleted /new/.
It was created to discuss politics, and changed little by little as moot started leaning more and more on the SJW side.

I don't really think anyone can learn much about 4chan ""culture"" just by browsing or asking /wsr/. All I see here are anime recommendations, source requests, photoshop threads, tech help and people's homework.
Is there any other way than "lurk moar"? It's a slow method, but it works.
