Is there a reason why the boards are split up like this?

As I understand it, the first set of brackets are the 'original' boards (pre-2006 I think), the second are the drawing boards, the third is /r9k/ (got its own brackets due to being an experimental board and they have never been removed), the fourth is [s4s] (got its own brackets due to asking for them), the fifth are the gay boards and the sixth are the newer (2006 and later) boards
