For those of you who make your own reaction images - specifically cropping from a piece of artwork or a comic - do you keep the artist's signature in if there is one?
I try to do so only out of respect for the artist since I'm a drawfag myself. Wouldn't shit on anyone else for not keeping it in, just curious.

I bet you don't add initials to screengrabs, so I don't see why a small subset of people should get special treatment when the actual authors of the work don't.

It depends I guess? I don't crop other peoples pics, but I drew some. I never sign what I make because it doesn't matter in the end, I don't usually recognise an artist by the signature, but by the style. For example I can't find the source of your pic googling the signature. Is it AU? AV?
I would care a little if someone claimed something I made as their own, but as long as they don't get money out of it I don't mind. Who would ever pay for a reaction image?
eh, i don't think any principled approach is correct. if the signature is obnoxious or detracts from the edited picture or happens to be outside of frame, it should go. if the signature happens to be in frame and is subtle, there's no reason to go out of your way to remove it.
i have only a few hard-ish rules.
-if the work is unedited, definitely keep any artist's signature that is there and name the image according to the source
-if someone edits someone else's original artwork - for fuck's sake, DON'T put in your own signature or watermark!
-if i edit an image, any watermarks of aggregator websites or commerical messages (including copyright of companies or stock sites) have to go
just go with your gut feeling. most of what we do here isn't legal anyway.
