I'm at the end of my rope here. My laptop will play as many games, open as many programs, etc. as long as it's all in a small location of the screen. Once a window gets too large though, the entire screen goes blank and requires a restart to see again.
How the fuck does that even happen?
It does it in safe mode, and still persists through a factory restart.
I've done just about everything I can think of, so I could really use some help
Msi makes great laptops, had mine for about a year now, 10/10
Also try updating all nvidia video drivers
Video games work fine, by the way, which makes me think it's a problem with the integrated graphics card, not the nvidia one
However, even when I run things like web browsers through the nvidia card it still blacks out when I maximize the window
Also, if I plug a monitor in through an HDMI cable, that monitor will work even when my laptop goes black

If you set your wallpaper to something really intricate, what happens?
Does it do it if you boot off a Linux CD?

Intricate wallpaper didn't do anything, I still had to enlarge a window to get it to go black.
I'm not the best with computers, what do you mean by booting it off a Linux CD?
I should also note that after the computer has been off for a while, when it boots up it works just fine for around 10 minutes. I don't think it's a heating issue though, because the CPU/GPU never go above 50c

Solder balls.
Your GPU is crawling off the motherboard, because it was attached with lead-free solder, and lead-free solder balls are not yet fully understood, especially by NVidia*.
There are companies that'll reball your laptop's BGAs with leaded solder, which makes the problem go away for good. Look on ebay.
* Funny that Intel's BGA northbridges, ULV processors, etc. never seem to have this problem.

I took my laptop to some computer repair people and they managed to fix it for a few months by changing some setting. I hope they didn't just fuck up my computer more.
