Is there any way to play 1080p HD videos on a shit XP?
I mean, yesterday i downloaded
>BoJack Horseman (Seasons 01, 02 & Special) [1080p] [HEVC] [x265]
but when i play it on MPC-HC the video slows down on some scenes while the audio keeps playing unsynched.
Is there a way to lower the quality of a video to be able to play it on a pc with 1GB RAM?

Just make it 720p.
Look for core codec for x264, it helps in old shitty machies

ffmpeg

Just no.
Go download an h.264 version instead, and maybe.

ffmpeg -i path/to/video.mkv -vf scale 1280:720 -c:a copy path/to/output.mkv

I already downloaded all the episodes. Also, I always wanted to learn how to recode files and this is a good opportunity to learn

I think you missed out the bit where it actually encodes the video.
