Assuming that the diffusion equation was derived from the transport equation under the assumptions:

1. Neutron scattering is at most linearly anisotropic
2. Scattering is azimuthally symmetric

What instances will the assumptions fall apart and make the equation not hold true?

Also,

Which physical conditions would change the differential equation characterization of the 2D steady state diffusion equation
