Skimmed catalog, didn't see pc spec thread.
Asking how shit my possible purchase is and how it will fare in the new year.
Intel i5-4460 3.2 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 - 3GB
8 Gb RAM (with room to upgrade)
No SSD
Clarifying that this setup would be for gaming (duh). Hoping this is enough to perform well with medium settings in most AAA titles. Thank you in advance

Have you looked at GTX 960s or R9 380s over a 760?

I have. The gtx 960 is on my radar definitley. Thing is my specs up there are already making my wallet scream in agony. Also i get lost in this sea of pc components so i'd like to touch base with how my OP would perform. Defnitely looking at better stuff but i have no idea what i can do with them.
2016

You'll be fine on Medium, but who builds a computer for medium settings when you can save up an extra month of cash and get Hyper on most games with a gtx 770 4gb or gtx 980...
SSD is great for boot times but it's a meme when it comes to gaming
Make sure your cpu/mobo/ram supports ram speeds above garbage-teir 1333mhz, 1866mhz is noticable. The next step up isn't very noticable, though.
Also shoot for i5-4670k for overclockability when you start getting upset a year later that your expensive box is slowing down

alright, thank you. Seems like solid advice. I've been out of the loop 8 years when i comes to pc shopping. My current nag was good for medium-high AAA back in the day and it has lasted well enough 'til now so, going with the same logic, for my needs i just rinse and repeat that kind of purchase now and i'm set for another ~5 years.
