At what point should I start being worried that my processor

At what point should I start being worried that my processor is falling behind? I think we're at least two generations past Sandy Bridge at this point, and I semi-recently got a new 970. Worried about bottlenecking in some new games.

When you run a game and your CPU usage history shows cores at 100%.

It's just science, there's nothing magic about it.
