Investigate which kind of RAM your motherboard supports, the highest frequency it can take and how much Gigs.
Get the RAM from a reputable brand and try to get a matching set (same package if possible).
Turn off your PC, jam the thing in ;) and enjoy the increase in speed.

make sure you earth yourself against the frame of the pc or a tap before handling the memory modules so you don't fry them with the static your body can build up
