"Thematically" covers the themes of the work. In this case, it'd be exploration of people's mental states and psychological profiles. Psychonauts involves delving into people's minds to see what their subconscious looks like and extracting information/altering their personality by resolving their issues. Alice involves a young insane woman suffering trauma and retreating into a fantasy world inside her head and having to mentally unfuck herself in order to get past it.
"Tonally" would cover the atmosphere or tone of the work. Psychonauts is a predominantly comedic game with a lot of slapstick and dry wit; other games like Grim Fandango and Monkey Island, which feature the same sense of humor, would be tonally similar.
