hey /g/ first time here. I have a older computer and i really want to boost my fps while gaming. I'm thinking of getting a new graphics card for my computer.

I have a intel HD graphics family (yea i know laugh at me)

price isn't too much of an issue, but nothing super expensive. Can give extra info if needed
>>
Wait two months for the new cards to come out.

If it's old and price isn't too much of an issue for you, I'd build (or buy) a new computer... After pascal comes out

yea scrap this post im getting a new computer

First red flag was when my one friend asked if i was using a lap top. I told him it was a desktop but he said it had lap top parts in it and was confusing him. i posted my specs on a skype chat with friends from a server and they all began laughing their asses off. I bought a 1000$ computer from Staples that had integrated graphics and lap top parts. They were laughing at me for a good 10 minutes and just told me to buy a new computer. Half my friends were sad for me and were legitimately surprised that i was able to survive on my shit computer.

My friend sent me this link for a good affordable gaming computer but 2nd opinions would be helpful: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jZPc99
Pic related is my specs
no bully ;_;

An ok entry level computer... Not great, but definitely not bad. Personally I'd look into an extra SSD (and possibly a 2tb HDD)
>>
>>29537
thanks, my friend said it could handle games at 60 fps but i have the moeny so im not afraid to pay a bit more

how much would an extra SSD be?
>>
>>29540
Depends... Anything from $30 to $50k

I got this, and have had no issues thus far

You got fucked, I'd ask for a refund.

>50k
literally what?

I got rid of a needless part for my computer so we are down to 609 dollars, might i ask what an extra SDD would do for my computer?

>>29549
wew 5 years later? I had no idea how shit this computer was until i learned it had fucking lap top parts in it. I legit did get screwed
>>
>>29551
Oh I didn't know you kept it for five years.
When you said older, I thought you were referring to the shit parts.

Good news everyone, it's only $37K

>what an extra SDD would do for my computer?
It will give you ludicrous speed. I keep mine as a system disk, i.e I keep windows and some other "essential" programs on it, while i keep games and por... *ahem*... "assorted pictures and videos" on my HDD

Also:
More reliable
Less noise
Less power consumption
Less heat
Smaller

too expensive for me lad but thanks for the offer ;^)

so my friend says this build should be good for gaming (60 fps is all im asking for) is there any other essential things i need?

If not this is my rig desu

>is there any other essential things i need?
Meh, not really, I'm assuming you already have a keyboard and a mouse: go for it, anon-kun.
>>
>>29579
wew cheers, i have a keyboard and mouse. Both are wireless and i assume they will synch up with the new computer? How easy would it be to manually build this myself? I have a friend who is good at computers and i might ask him to build this for me and just give him 20 bucks. Or is this something i can do by myself?

First build is always a hassle, but there are tons of guides, videos and forums to save you. Check out some "first PC build tips" guides be fore you start, take it slowly and save 20 bucks.

And there's a certain satisfaction in saying: "yeah! Built it myself... So, Anyway, here's wonderwall".
