Hello /wsr/, I have a problem. Whenever I mount my USB3 hard drive (WD My Book Essential 3 TB, pic related), the amount of RAM used by my system ramps up from about 1300 MB to 5700 MB, only by doing this. Does anyone have any good idea why?
My system's components are:
AMD Athlon 5350
8 GB DDR3 @ 1600 Mhz
120 GB Kingston SATA 3 SSD
AsRock AM1-H ITX
Lubuntu 16.04 LTS
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tip. Still I can't get why mounting an external drive increases so much the amount of cached memory but anyway, muh speed.

You're probably running something like Gnome or KDE that's indexing the thing when you mount it.
