is my hard drive dying? this started happening recently and it almost always results in my computer automatically rebooting and then showing a "no hard drive detected" error until i restart a few more times. on the other tab, there is no process that has any disk usage.

That's the SATA link crashing.

It's probably the drive, but it might be the cable or the port.

If I were you, I'd be buying a new drive like RIGHT NOW, and ghosting the old drive onto it.
