If I download a pirated copy of Windows 7 and update to Windows 10, would that get rid of any viruses that may have been included, or is the instillation still fucked?
>>
So wait, do you have viruses currently? Are you doing the Microsoft free upgrade with a pirated w7, or are you buying w10? Wut?

I had pirated w7, and bought a ssd recently, so I went to legit w10 and ssd+hdd by doing the following:

1) find your pirated copy of w7, or just download images from Microsoft website/trusted source

2) Do clean install of w7 install, inc format, without entering key

3) Update to SP1, do this before next step, cause random shit went wrong for me when I uninstalled/tried changing key

4) buy legit w7 key for your version from sellers on leddit for well under retail. There's a sub for just selling windows keys that has completely reputable sellers and only select people can advertise. My key from s5ean was for SP1 specifically, and I hadn't updated, hence point 3

5) activate bought key, which should go fine as these sellers are good. Message the seller if it doesn't

6) Do w10 free upgrade with now-legit w7

7) install and configure programs as necessary

That's how I got from pirated w7 to w10 for $25

Thanks you so much for the advice! I'll try what you did.

I didn't think anyone would respond, little alone bother typing up a guide. Thank you.

You shouldn't ever need to worry about getting viruses from pirating Win7. MS posted good checksums for the ISO images.

And I assume totallylegitimatewindows7piratebootloader.com does too?

Your point is perfectly valid WRT downloading Windows from god-knows-where then activating it with a legitimate license though.

Most of the time, yes. Not the guy you're arguing with but I understand your point - bootloaders are an easy way to get into trouble.

Microsoft checks the license status only to see if it is valid for -

The OEM's key (i.e: mobo. if you bought a Dell computer you get a Dell license key)

Or an individual key in itself, for resellers and individual buyers like >>12915.

Only activates once and does a recheck when upgrading to Windows 10. Most pirated copies will pass this check. Using an individual key on two different computers will fail the check.

As for OP >>12895

If you have a bootsector virus, you're fucked. Most viruses don't get this deep though. You will want to format your hard drive to get rid of everything.
