What are some cool 80's/90s anime OVAs or movies? I'm really loving the animation quality from these. I've watched most of the classics like GiTS, Akira, Patlabor etc.

Don't watch this without watching the anime. The plot goes extremely quickly and they just sort of assume you're familiar with the events of SDF Macross.

Five Star Stories, I didn't really enjoy, but from what I've seen people say, the manga seems to be fantastic. So it's probably a good watch if you've read the manga.
Dallos, I wouldn't recommend. It just falls flat on a lot of things and doesn't really end up doing much in the end.
I feel like these have the animation style you're looking for as well, but I might be wrong.
