Might be a video file with VP9 video and opus audio, which is rareoy supported in software.

Download the youtube video with youtube-dl (CLI) and use handbrake to convert it to an MP4 using H264 video set at 10 CRF (good enough to edit) and 320k aac/mp3.

hmmm Well what are you trying to do with the video? Most basic video editing can be done on avidemux + virtualdub (with ffmpeg plugin).

Like a logo or 2-5 seconds of a still picture? Because avidemux will do the logo thing and virtualdub can do the 2-5 second still picture thing.

Hmm oh well only blender can do that for free I guess. Not sure why it's not importing the youtube video. Regardless do >>124256 as it seems like your only chance blender will load the video into the video editor.

Also review blender video editing tutorials to see if you are missing something. I've never used blender but it's the only free video editor that has been used for advanced video editing on youtube vids that I know of.
