My PC was fine a few days ago but now I'm getting this error when I boot:
Loading operating system..
Boot from CD/DVD
I can't run safe mode and I've tried using bootrec.exe to rebuild the BCD but it couldn't find an OS, it was searching X: instead of C: however. Does anyone have any experience fixing this? Is my HDD just fucked?
Have you boot from a cd yet? like Hiren's and seen if you can see the drive at all from there?

Yeah I booted from a windows 7 install disc to get to command prompt to use bootrec.exe and it found my installation but then wouldn't search for it in C: for some reason

When you begin the setup process to select disks does it also show the disk?
Have you booted up with a Hiren's boot disc yet? or some disc with an operating system on it to check if you can navigate the drive like to backup or whatever?

It shows the disc in the boot menu yeah but when I boot it it just skips and shows teh loading operating screen again.
I haven't actually I'll read into Hiren's boot disc now
you still there?
Bumping for same problem.
In cmd try
Diskpart
List disk
Select disk # (# is the disk which you've installed Windows on)
List partition
Select partition # (# should be the size of your drive)
Active
This should make your boot drive actually boot to a degree, or at least be detected with bootrec.exe functions
It could be that your HDD isn't properly connected.
You could use diskpart to see if there is a disk with the size of your C drive.
If you really need a computer atm you could use "Slax" a really small linux distro that allow you to boot from a USB stick. Also, if something in your OS is fucked, lets say you deleted your system 32 folder, slax allows you to copy your imporant files and start over again with a clean copy of windows.
