Can someone who is much smarter than I help a brother out?
A few days ago, I noticed that my computer was lagging and running much slower than normal. I noticed that my memory tends to hover around or above 90% when I use any sort of web browser. I'm not sure why this is, though. I have not downloaded anything recently that would take space away. I've run multiple scans for malicious programs, I updated windows, and i've restarted my computer multiple times, all to no avail. I have also tried to look up ways to compress the memory usage or get rid of programs to clear some memory but nothing has helped.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this? Do I need more RAM? A new HDD? I'm clueless right now.
did you run a scan for malware with malwarebytes?

I have run Malwarebytes twice. However, I have not in about 3 days which is right when this became an issue. It might not hurt to do another one I suppose.

How much memoroy do you have?

I have two 8GB sticks installed. Which I believe should be plenty. I don't run any outrageously large programs. Mainly just Steam and a web browser.

16 GB? damn, there's no way that thing shoudl be at 95% usage. I would figure it out quickly but since I'm not sitting at your computer you're going to have to figure it out. Does that show all processes or does that hide some until you click "show processes from other uses" like in Windows 7? that list doesn't appear to show anything with really crazy memory usage.

Hi,
can you tell me what plug ins are running and if you have any new programs that are opening on start up?
Did you recently torrent anything or download from an untrusted website?

It looks like I'm an idiot and have my RAM in slots 1 and 2. I believe I need to move the stick in slot 1 to slot 4 for best performance.

Still shouldn't be an excuse for 95% memory usage but hey.

I switched it and now i'm running just under 30% memory usage under the same conditions (steam open and browser with multiple tabs open), so it seems to have greatly helpped.
