I can't delete a pornagraphic vlc video from my external hard drive. It just says cannot be found. Can anyone on /wsr/ help me?
>>121479
run cmd.exe as an administrator and type in
"CHKDSK x: /F /R" (remove the " and replace x with the drive name)

have you already tried turning the external hard drive off completely, waiting 1 minute or so and trying again? It will probably work
>>121506
>Copy the file's full path (in the notepad for example)
for example "x:\folderA\folderB\pornagraphic vlc file.avi"
don't remove the " and replace x with the drive name, and the folder(s) and the file's names with the correct ones
>Unplug and replug the hard drive, but don't go in it,
>Then run "cmd.exe" and type in
del "x:\folderA\folderB\pornagraphic vlc file.avi"
with the file's path you copied in the notepad beforehand.
Create a new file with the exact same extension and name and overwrite the old porn file with the new one and then delete the new file.

You can navigate in the correct folder in the "cmd.exe" console by typing
x:
(replace x with the drive name)
cd "fileA"
(replace fileA with the drive name, no need for the " unless there's a space)
del "pornagraphic vlc file.avi"
(replace "pornagraphic vlc file.avi" with your file's name.)
You can press [Tab] after you wrote the file's first letters to avoid writing the full name. It's really useful if there is a special character that's not recognized normally.
Or you can always copy all your files in your computer and format the whole disc, but it'd be like setting the house on fire to kill a spider.

I think his issue is that when he deleted the file it stayed in the folder and now when he tries to remove the file it just says "no file found" because technically it doesn't exist anymore but it's still showing up. I've had something similar happen, Files not disappearing after deletion.

Then >>121520 or >>121482 should work, but I believe it's worth mentioning as many ways as possible to someone calling a video, a "vlc video".
Checkdisk is on the drive's "properties", the tab called "tools". It's the option called "error checking".
Alternatively to >>121520, you can move all the other files in the video's folder in a new folder, and delete the original folder.
You can then rename the new folder with the old folder's name.

Now it says The file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
