hi anons, any 3d experts here?
I made a 3d file from sketchup, exported it as obj to photoshop and export it to psd. I was wondering is it possible to move around the psd file in after effects?

you can use obj's on after effects with element 3d and just import the psd textures.

I've tried that, but nothing shows up on the project window. Sorry I'm pretty dumb

what exactly do you want to make? maybe you could use a 3d software (c4d portable is around 150 mb on youtube with almost all features)

I'm trying to create a shooting range 3d model
import it into after effects
hopefully I can have the camera fly around the model
record the camera movement
I actually not really have an idea if this would work or not. I'm only guessing it from my very little after effects experience

yes it could work using element 3d and the camera but you'll need some experience with keyframes and whatnot.

imho it's easier to make on cinema 4d and making the video editing on ae. but that's probably because i'm used to work on c4d.

one last question, when I import a png or psd file into sketchup, it has the transparent background, but when I export it to obj and open it in photoshop, it has a gray background, do you know what I missed?

I've ended up using the animation function
at least I got some sloppy work
