It's good, but I wouldn't recommend watching this right now OP. Both the light novels and anime end on a cliffhanger, so you may end up pretty disappointed.
Just watch The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Really popular back in the day, and still popular on /a/. Even some normies probably remember the obnoxious dance craze. School/Slice-of-life/comedy/romance, I think it's the right fit for you OP.
