if you want to go with 3D game making software, UE4 is free to download and is somewhat easy to use, and there are tutorials on a lot of it posted to youtube.
Join a forum or discussion group where like-minded people also learn to make games and share their progress. There are various places like this. For example you will always find an AGDG thread (amateur game development general) in /vg/.
