I just installed a new hard drive into an old pc and am trying to install Windows 7 on it. During the install, at the "Where do you want to install Windows?" part, my computer can't find the hard drive.
Another thing, when I boot up the computer I hear odd robotic beep sounds coming from the hardware. It's two beeps, one long drawn out beep and then a short one, and then repeats for about 30 seconds before going silent. The beeps seem to be coming from the hard drive bay. If you need video of the sound I will try taking some.. it's kinda hard...

Can you format it on another PC?

I only have a laptop, and no tools to connect it
I have to ask if you're ABSOLUTELY sure that it is connected correctly? You have double checked the power and data (SATA) connections on both ends.
Do you know how to view the BIOS screen? By pressing a key like Delete or F2 depending on motherboard? If the hard drive isn't listed in the BIOS, an operating system will never see it.
You can always get a SATA to USB adapter to see if it's recognized by any computer that has a free USB port.
But it could be a bad drive. We all get one at some point.
Does anybody know what type of music that's playing in the background at 22:15?

22:15? I cannot hear anything there. Anyway, I think you can check the credits of the game and look for the BSO, or just seek for it, "BSO NO MORE HEROES" and that stuff.
Hope you get it.

Yeah, when he gets in the limo some song with a female vocalist starts playing. I'll try what you said though. Thanks.
When running games in fullscreen mode, if I have background programs open, they occasionally flicker on-screen for a split-second, like a subliminal message, even though the program does not have focus. For example, if I have Windows Explorer open, I might see the zoomed up text of file names. If I have Winamp open, I might see part of the playlist.
Is there a particular name for this that I can google a solution for (I haven't had luck searching for "flickering"), or is someone familiar with this issue that can offer advice?

you might have a screen magnifier program running.
Fullscreen games typically have their own resolution they are set to play at, so the background is magnified to match. That still wouldn't explain the flickering problem though.
Hey, guys, help me find a film. Sex comedy. Friends go to some kind of a resort to get one of them lose his virginity. There's tits. There's a partying midget (midgets?) who I thought was Wee Man (but his filmography does not have the film I look). And I seem to recall a discussion about "does anal count for losing virginity".
I remember the film as a funny one. It was a long time ago. I may be disappointed, but still want to re-watch it.
Anyone?

there is a game for the PS2 and it's basically a collection style game that has loads of games and there is one game in particular I want.
it is an arcade double player shoot'em game, aerial view, you clear each area and have an optiont to access a different area, up down left right depending on circumstances. You basically fight hordes of different enemies like humas, snakes and huge bosses at the end of areas. get weapons and powerups and the ingame coin system. Fairly sure one character was red and the other blue.

lol no this is pretty shit for the price. What are you planning to do on the laptop? Playing video games, homework, watching blu-rays?
>>151994
doing some light to medium gaming, nothing like crysis or dark souls. playing arma 3, dayz(it's not gonna run right no matter what machine you have I know), tf2 and shit like that. mostly for doing homework. i had a 2 in 1 that had a intel i7 5500U with an integrated graphics card last year so i know what shit is lol. if you find something better, i'm all ears. these ultralowpower cpu/apu's are killing my search.

i don't need the subwoofer or a touchscreen but it seems like it would hold up to the occasional bumps compared to my previous computer
Can anyone help me find the real-life face of J. Higgs? According to "potatochipworld.com" he is actually Joe Higgs, CFO of Save-a-Lot, which is the store that carries these chips. Please help John "Papa" Schnatter in his quest to bask upon the magnificent and gorgeous real face of J. Higgs and you will be rewarded with 2 uncles.
Don't worry i will help you out me friend. Do you have any more info?

I've been using EaseUS Recovery Data and GetData Recover My Files for the last 72 straight hours and almost nothing from the drive is saved: also the system gets TOO unstable to even use whilst the software tries to catch stuff there...
So I've used HD Sentinel and it says this Head Flying Hours that's 2x times the worst case (100).
So, should I trash and/or burn it already or are there other ways I could possibly salvage data from it ?
Other thing I've omitted is that Disk Management from Windows can never start the disk, claiming Cycle Redundancy Check...
Don't feel bad man. About a week ago a external drive of fine got corrupted brought upon by the external enclosure. I took it out and am using it as a normal internal. I tried for a couple houtlrs restoring the partition.

Could any Photoshop gods put this in 3500 * 2500 resolution without stretching it? either by duplicating some building to make it longer or adding some black space to the bottom?

Hi, /wsr/. I have a question about a recurring crash that I think is videocard-related.
The card in question is an NV GTX 770. Up until a few weeks ago, it was on drivers from 2013 (I want to say version 328.xx).
Everything with this card was fine until Overwatch released. Right after the release, I started getting driver crashes when launching Overwatch for the first time - I'd run the game and five minutes later the game would crash to desktop and Windows would give me a message saying that the NVidia driver had crashed and recovered. Everything usually worked fine after that one crash, but that one crash would happen every time like clockwork.
In an attempt to diagnose the issue, I did a whole bunch of stuff. The first step was to update my drivers to the latest ones (from OW release day). This only made things worse, as now not only would Overwatch crash, it would also randomly cause the entire system to hang - to the point where I'd have to pull the plug and hard reset it.
At that point, I tried using Display Driver Uninstaller and rolling back to the previous set of drivers, dated May 5th, 2016. This worked really well for about a week, but then the system went back to crashing and hanging - only this time, it got even worse. Now, the system would sometimes hang after I stopped playing Overwatch, and would also hang in other games.
At this point, I thoroughly dusted out the videocard - I still haven't pulled it out, but I used a combination of canned air and q-tips to wipe all of the dust off the areas I could reach. While this did cause my temperatures to go down significantly, the crashing issue was still there.
I also tried rolling back to driver version 358.50 (from October 2015) to see if that would be more stable. Again, it was stable for about a week and then stopped being stable.
I'm kind of at the end of my rope, since I don't know what the problem is and the crashes keep getting worse. Anyone have any suggestions?
>>151792
Sounds kinda similar to an issue I had a while back. Assuming you're on Windows, I'd say try running System Restore and going back to a point before you've had the issues, perhaps before installing Overwatch. That should fix the system hangs at least.
As for the causes of the crash, I can't offer much help there. Your video card is more than capable of running it, can we get some more specs?
Maybe try /sqt/ thread on >>>/g/,...

The thing is, I don't think it's Overwatch itself that is causing the crashes. They've started happening in other games now, even if I haven't touched Overwatch. I've also started seeing the system BSOD and reboot after simply being on for a while. It's not an overheat as far as I know, because I've had it happen while idle and the temps are never that hot.
As for the specs, I'm out right now but the CPU is an AMD six-core, one of the FX line I think. 32GB of RAM, ASUS...

Well, you're above the min specs for Overwatch, so it's not a hardware issue as far as I can tell.
What version of Windows are you on? Like I said, I had a similar problem myself with another game, even went through the whole uninstall, re-install, and update drivers thing. Nothing worked, and I got BSODs as well as display driver crashing. System restore solved stability issues.
But, I'd do a bit more digging before that, maybe check other fourms. Sorry I can't be any more help.
