Man I love this show, I've watched all the batsu games since 2000 over the past few days, on hotel man now. Are actual Downtown episodes good? Matsumoto and Hamada are really entertaining.

And those foam swords aren't exactly soft. They're more rubber than foam, so maybe one hit is ok but after getting hit 50 times or so their butts start feeling sore.

I always liked the batsu games when it was 1-2 members plotting the comedy for the others, it's become really standardised and formulaic imo, I still really enjoy the yamasaki getting slapped bits though. It's such a shame that they've been doing this for 16 years now and we'll never see anything like the 2000 punishment tag again, they're just too old.

I think you were trying to spell しょっぱい, which is like slang/dialect for salty.
The kanji is the same for 塩辛い(shokarai, which is the specific word for salty) and 辛い (karai); however, karai can also be used to say something is salty without the 塩 (salt). Given the context and the rest of their descriptions (havent seen this episode so I dont know what was in it), they are saying it's salty.
