Going to buy ghostbusters pinball, anyone played it?
check out the pinball general, bro.
not retro

Yeah
Ok. So Im not of the opinion that remakes are a good thing. I dislike most of them. (movies, even music covers) People tend to remake things that are already perfect. I'm of the opinion that only flawed, or outdated games should get an overhaul. Not a blotchy (shitty filter) "HD" upgrade. Those are atrocious. I'm talking about outright modernizing the game outright. Pic Related. It's 2 that fall into my category.
>Blood Omen
Great atmosphere. The dreariness of Nosgoth is front and center. From the ominous lighting...

>A-la Dark Souls
C'mon now, that wouldn't fit at all. Blood Omen doesn't need a remake, if anything Defiance needs a sequel.
I just realized I never actually played Legacy of Kain and the only game in the series i did play was Soul Reaver
>>3283514
Blood Omen could have used some balancing and polish, but it's nowhere near unplayable. In fact, exploring is pretty fun and satisfying, and so are the dungeons due to their emphasis on avoiding traps etc. I replayed it a few months ago and thought it was excellent. Not perfect, but very good at what it does. By far the best game in the series.
I don't think Defiance really needs a sequel, either. Especially not now.
Apologize.

I'm sorry you were a wasted slot in the classic franchise
I'm sorry that you're too autistic to deal with a game that tried to defy convention.
>>3283550
It just tried to sell more Nintendo Power.
this game any good?
it's unbearable slow even with speedup
Ambitious but buggy as fuck. If polished, then it would have been an excellent rpg for N64.
>have a collecting sidequest that permeates through the entire game
>by the time it's finished it's used only for the final boss and is obsolete against him
>lock most upgrades behind a shitty minigames one of which requires a lot of grinding
>by the time you do it you can kill everything in one or two hits anyway
Why were the upgrades in this game so poorly handled?

THE RALLY
Don't quote me on this, but I think that none of the original team who made the first Alundra worked on this.
I remember the early boss fights taking forever because they could kill you in a few hits and they had loads of health.
>>3283323
It was probably an unrelated project called "クロックワーク の Bullshit" or something like that at some point and they just slapped the Alundra brand on it in the last stretch before release
>Diddy's conquest
I don't know if this was intensional on nintendo's part, but that's a pretty slick play on words man.
>pretending to be r*tarded
What do you gain from this?
>>3283176
It's not conquest, it's kong quest.
>>3283176
It wasn't intentional. It's a well-known fact that absolutely every single blatant, obvious pun in a video game title is a 100% complete and total accident. Every single time.
I remember playing Ultima VI for SNES when I was like six years old. Never got very far in it, but I really liked it, and I would sometimes play my stepdad's save file, being very careful never to save over it.
More recently, I've played stuff like Ultima 1 & 2, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Arcanum. But I'd like to get into the genuinely OLD school cRPGs like Ultima, Wizardry, and so on.
What's a very gentle introduction to those kinds of games for someone coming from late 90s/early 2000s RPGs?
Top down and first person are both...

>Ultima 1 & 2,
I think you mean Fallout 1&2.
Stop thinking too much about things and just do it.
>>3283062
Wizardry is good. If you dosbox it (very likely) I really recommend upping the speed of it to high levels, because the game is sloooooowwwww.
>>3283161
You mean Wizardry 6 or 7? You can also speed them up by turning off the sound.
I've been hearing a lot about Sakura Taisen lately. I know it's a big cult franchise, but I've never looked into them until now. They sound kinda fun. What's the lowdown on these games? It doesn't look like many of them have been translated, so why is it so popular?
They were VERY popular in Japan, like, VERY.
Also I think one or maybe more of the games got translated intorussianand released on PC over there.
They are fun games if you are into SRPG and waifus.
Meh, Shining Force is better. Didn't care for the VN interludes that broke up the battle portions.
>>3281581
SRPG combined with visual novel/dating sim, starring an all-female military group who pilot steampunk mechas to protect the great Japanese empire (Nippon Teikoku Kagekidan). I think that's about it.
Alright. I'm buying a NES with a copy of Super Mario Bros. 3. How much would this be worth? ( Price from seller: 75 dollars Including game )
$75 is pretty much full ebay price.
$300 for the console $50 for the game.
>>3281046
Just emulate it. That's even cheaper.
I wonder, why do we call retro games retro? The definition of retro is "imitative of a style, fashion, or design from the recent past."?
Wouldn't something like "vintage" be more appropriate, since it means something made from the specified time period?
It'd make more sense but retro is pretty much stuck.
>Words have fixed meanings
Because when we play old games today we're imitating the way we played games in the past, as opposed to the current paradigm of gaming.

Is /vr/ the best board ever? I'm inclined to think so! Post some games with some rad animation in 'em if you feel so inclined!
Pic related, it's tempo!

The Outrun guy was later retconned into the badguy from Afterburner.
Let's get these rolling again.
Posting old pic, with the strongly encouraged "rules" (will update old pic at a later time):
1. I suggested having a time stamp with both email and date; this way you don't have to include it in your text as people will see it in the pic, and the pic would be harder to steal.
2. Prices should include shipping and fees for the CONUS, with the exception that you're international, in which case it should include fees.
3. /vr/ stuff only, although I personally have purchased /v/ stuff as well. I...

Nice timestamp.
>Grew up in the UK

My mind was blown. Every game I knew is now faster, not only in controls but also music.
What the fuck?

I guess you were only playing games released in the 80s?
